Description Toni Sindacco was the best at what he did. No one was able to beat him in the circuit, not even the legendary Falcon.

That all changed one fateful day whilst racing in Mute City. Debris from a previous crash had not properly been cleaned up, causing Toni's vehicle itself to crash horrifically.

Being involved in an accident traveling at 2200 km/h doesn't really bode well for the average carbon-based body, and since it was never found by authorities, Toni was declared dead on site.

Waking up somewhere unknown to him, Toni was surprised to see he wasn't dead, but half of his vision seemed to be very strange. Almost virtual. Further discoveries led him to find out that he had been turned into a cyborg, nearly 60% of his body (inside and out) had been replaced by functional bionic machinery. To this day he doesn't know who was responsible, as he quickly escaped and made his way back home to Corneria as soon as possible.

However, all was not well back home. 8 years had passed since his crash, time moved on without him. Any of his friends he came to know within the circuit had either died or forgotten about him. And the worst part is, now that he was officially declared 'dead', he couldn't acquire a real job. Taking the name of his old racing machine, he renamed himself Vorteks.

He tried to re-enter the racing sport that he loved so dearly, but it too had changed. Instead of being all about sportsmanship and racing skill, F-Zero had turned into a stupid drama with buff men and women in skintight outfits, all following different storylines just for the sake of ratings. Each race was even rigged to follow the stories. It was just like professional wrestling, but with race cars instead of body blows.

Distraught at how different things had become, Vorteks turned to crime. Petty crime, at first. Convenience Store Robberies, purse-snatching, though he never really turned to violence. He never actually used a weapon or caused harm onto others. His favorite past time, however, was street racing. He had the knowledge of a professional racer, as well as cybernetic implants, that gave him quite the edge of the punks and hooligans of the street racing scene. He loved tweaking and upgrading his vehicle, dubbed 'Cyber GT' by the locals, whenever he had downtime.

Eventually his crimes caught the eye of a mafia boss, who sent him to help out with major heists and stealing expensive vehicles. He wasn't happy working for a known crime lord, much less a crime lord exploiting him for his capabilities. But the man paid well, and that kept him from protesting.

These capabilities, however, proved useless when his boss told him to steal a suspiciously parked SUV parked all alone atop a parking garage. When Vorteks attempted to start the engine, he was confronted by law enforcement, but not the police. Instead, a small ground-based mercenary team known as S.C.A.R.S. had used the truck as a 'bait' vehicle, to catch Vorteks specifically.

Instead of reporting him or punishing him, the people of S.C.A.R.S. offered him a place within their ranks, as they could use someone with his skill. Reluctant at first, Vorteks eventually accepted the position and became part of the team. There, he met Fiona, a blue vixen who organized S.C.A.R.S.'s missions. Over time, Vorteks grew fond of Fiona, though he didn't like to show it.

The universe had moved on without him, he had no friends or family and the only thing he was good at was crime. For eight years, he was a dead man. Long forgotten by even his closest acquaintances. His heart had grown cold, covered in a thick stone wall of hatred and rejection.

Fiona was the only one who ever bothered to chisel away at this stone wall, perhaps one day hoping to reach the soft center.

This is basically Toni after his accident, as if you couldn't tell by the above story. The always awesome drew it for me!

S.C.A.R.S. and Fiona actually belong to a good friend of mine,

Vorteks/Toni, of course, belongs to me. :I

F-Zero and Star Fox are copyright Nintendo too, I guess.
