Description
So the Sequel Trilogy came and went, and while I'm fine with their own sequel-era astromech droid, the BB unit design (it's simple, unique and effective, but a bit too "cute", if you will), I wanted to give a go at a different style. This model is a complete rework of my previous Astromech design, where I've changed certain areas, though the overall look still remains largely the same.
I've also given this design a name - the E5 series.

I thought up a rough backstory behind the design. For starters, it's a New Republic droid, and is also used extensively by the New Jedi Order. So like my previous design, I thought with this backstory in mind, technology may have become more grand and noble, and that is why I chose to add gold accents.

I'm planning on making some more 'New Republic' designs, based on a look I personally would've liked to have seen in the Sequel Trilogy. I must say that this isn't meant to be some kind of critique of Disney's trilogy. It's just a fun project where I can create Star Wars models I'd have been interested in seeing on the big screen.
