If you'll recall, way back at the start of Autumn Spring, we learned that Brandy wears non-prescription eyeglasses to work in an effort to make her look older than she appears. Without them, and given the fact that she's still young (26), she can easily be mistaken for an older teenager. This aspect of Brandy arose out of a problem I was having with some of my earlier readers accepting Brandy's age as stated, rather than the age she appears to be. I also made a point of the quarter-century age difference between Brandy and Larry, since it's the most unusual aspect their relationship. Thankfully, both of those issues are well behind us now. Most of my regular readers have come to accept Brandy's age despite her youthful looks, and I've done my best to lay the age difference issue to rest for them as well. Both of these also have basis in reality. There ARE women who look a lot younger than they really are, and I think all of us probably know at least one. Also, older-younger relationships have been going on between men and women ever since the species has been in existence. That's why I'm symbolically laying the twin issues of Brandy's age and youthful looks aside by having her shuck her false glasses for good. Well, maybe not for good - they're still an option on her business pantsuit character model, if I ever need them - but I think all of you know what I mean.
"Yente" is the name of the Jewish matchmaker in Fiddler on the Roof. Sue called herself by that name in Episode 7, "Adjustments," when she encourages Alan to reconsider Jodie for possible romancing, instead of continuing to wish that Brandy were still available (as he had first hoped). One gets the impression from this and other things that Sue might have been the one who hooked up firm partner Bill Howe with Brandy's predecessor at the DCH front desk. Mmmmmmm ... could be!
So what have Alan and Jodie been up to for the past hour or so? We're about to find out ....
