Description

Ported to OBJ from the SketchUp recreation by tyo0911.  Based on the design created by Leiji Matsumoto for the original Space Battleship Yamato (nee Star Blazers) television series, and as subsequently reused (sometimes in modified form) in other Yamato/Star Blazers franchise productions and products.  Preview picture posed in XNALara XPS.  I'm not making my port of this available for public download and tyo0911 pulled his models from Google's 3D Warehouse years ago, although there's a game-ripped model from Project Stardust floating around out there of its later Yamato 2199 analog Darold if you absolutely must have it.  You'll have to find the link yourselves; good luck hunting.

The Revenge class entered service with the Gamilons late in the Earth-Gamilon War.  Revenge is the code name given to it by the Earth Defense Force (EDF); in some iterations of the Yamato/Star Blazers multiverse (Yamato 2199, et al) its real (Gamilon) class name was Darold.  Only one is ever seen in the original series (or season 1 to fans of the English dub) and it's implied that it's new, with more being seen in later productions in the original Yamato/Star Blazers timeline, so there you go.  Revenge attempted to combine the best features of both Gamilon space battleship and Gamilon space carrier onto a single hull.  It also broke with long-standing Gamilon starship design practice and followed Earth designs in that it was also capable of aquatic landing and takeoff from a sufficiently large body of water, as well as operating as a conventional aquatic ship.  No one knows why the Gamilons did this and this design was not repeated with other Gamilon starship classes, although there were equally successful successor variations on Revenge in both enhanced and simplified forms.  Please consult the separate entries on each for more information.  As noted Revenge proved very successful and saw many decades of service with the Gamilons, although we don't know how many were built of either the original Revenge or its later standard variants.

It should be noted that all Gamilon space warships were painted in the colors and decorated with the insignia and other unique markings of the various field squadrons or fleets in which they served. There were also paint schemes and marking that were unique for specific Gamilon ships, such as flagships and designated auxiliary types. While this preview piccy shows the paint scheme and hull markings of the original Darold, this class followed these same rules for their paint schemes and other markings. Please consult the appropriate sources for more information on this topic.

This is canon, given multiple on-screen appearances in the Yamato/Star Blazers franchise.
