Description

Ported to OBJ from the model created by Darkdrone for the Starfleet Command (SFC) series of video games.  Based on the original design as seen in first the Stargate feature film and the subsequent Stargate SG-1 (or SG1 for short) television series.  Preview picture posed in XNALara XPS.  NO MODEL DOWNLOAD.

I'm opening a new wing at Mandel's today dedicated to the popular Stargate sci-fi franchise, and what better for its first entry than the classic Goa'uld starship design?  Maestro, the music please ....

The Cheops class pyramid, or Ra class as it is sometimes called after the original Stargate movie, is one of the oldest Goa'uld mothership designs still in use in the Stargate universe.  It resembles a classic four-sided Egyptian pyramid (the franchise suggested they were inspired by it) but has a very advanced look.  Upon landing at any given location, several of the hull plates at strategic points retract inside the ship and others at the top reorient themselves into a sort of observation deck or watch tower if you will.  We never see it use weapons and to this day (as I write this) do not know for sure if it is armed or unarmed; however, it does have at least one hangar bay for Goa'uld Death Glider fighters.  It also has at least one set of transport rings.  Some of these are still around at the time of the series and are even visited/used in selected episodes, although encountering one is considered uncommon.  As a whole, most of the current generation of Goa'uld consider them part of their past and do not bother with them unless they have to do so, although there is an exception or two.

A structure very similar to a Cheops in both size and appeaerance can be found at the heart of every one of the later Ha'tak class motherships, although it is three-sided instead of four-sided.  Make of that what you will.

This replaces my earlier inaccurate Cheops class model from the old Stargate Command mod for the SFC series.  It may not be as "slick-ery" but at least it's more accurate, so there you go.
