Description

Ported to OBJ from the CG recreation by Binkley-Spacetrucker.  Based on the original filming model as seen in the short-lived NBC-TV sci-fi comedy series Quark, starring Richard Benjamin in the title role.  Preview picture posed in XNALara XPS.  You can download this model at the link below, and yes it comes with extras (like the grabber arms), although you'll have to port and texture it yourself.  Here's the link:

When I was a very young lad, I chanced upon the award-winning TV series Quark (see TRIVIA) during its original broadcast run on my local NBC-TV affiliate. It was hard to keep up with, as it was a mid-season replacement series and NBC kept changing its timeslot on me, and it eventually died the death of not having found a big enough audience (go figure!) and after only seven episodes produced (not counting the pilot for a total of eight).  It's a real shame, because it was freaking hilarious and widely regarded today as one of the best sci-fi comedy series of its time, even despite the fact it was so short-lived.  Here's a link to an excellent review of Quark if you're unfamiliar with it:

This is the signature spacecraft from Quark -- and no, I didn't get the title wrong.  It's a space garbage scow operated by the United Galaxy Sanitation Patrol (UGSP).  It's the pseudo-Enterprise to its captain, Adam Quark (Benjamin), a fairly competent fellow in the best Mr. Roberts tradition (go look it up) who yearns for adventure and excitement and really great things to do with his life given his talents and ambition, but instead winds up as the captain of a space garbage scow collecting interstellar garbage all day.  He's also stuck with a weird mix of beings for his crew (sound familiar, Captain Tylor and Red Dwarf fans?), and together they cruise known space on their endless, boring, and dull routine while doing their best to make the most of it -- that is, whenever their titular senior, a classic bureaucratic type named Palindrome (Mork and Mindy's Conrad Janis) doesn't need them for something unusual.  Because you see, and as real garbage men will tell you, even in their profession they sometimes get a dose of the strange and wonderful -- and it's up to Captain Quark and his crew to somehow and beyond all hope muddle though the situation to its resolution ... and after that go back to collecting more space garbage.  XD

A lot of us have wished that Quark would come back someday, even if it's in an updated form more suited to modern audiences.  At least now you have a model of Quark's space garbage scow you can use for that or for other purposes.  For example, make Korax's comments about Kirk in Star Trek TOS "The Trouble with Tribbles" come true and have Kirk reassigned as Quark's replacement in command of his very own real garbage scow (this one, grin-and-wink).  That's just one idea, but there's plenty more out there.  Happy space garbage collecting!

For non-profit, non-commercial use only.  If you use this in your own project please credit its recreator, Binkley-Spacetrucker.  Thank you.

TRIVIA - Quark actually won a single Emmy Award for costume design in one of its episodes, so it's perfectly honest to call Quark "an award winning series."
