COMMENTS
This image is from a small subset of RE Exodus imagery I created back in the day that depict scenes I later rewrote or even abandoned and replaced while I was still developing and writing the novel.
Once I had decided to limit the appearance by ORC's Echo Team Six to a cameo at the end of the novel, I promptly wrote out a full prose draft of that entire scene. I also lost it not long after due to a hard drive crash on the laptop I was using to write Exodus at the time, and to make matters worse I couldn't find the USB thumbdrive containing backup copy I knew I had made back then. I wound up having to reconstruct the entire scene from memory, and I also took that opportunity to revise it still further into an early form of what eventually became the version in the final novel. Fortunately I eventually found that USB thumbdrive with my backup copy of the original version of that scene, and I included it in my Exodus Draft Fragments collection as Fragment 29.
I've mentioned before over the course of this Exodus storyboard image series that one of the things I wound up cutting from Echo Team Six's appearance at the end of the final version of Exodus was a delicious scene featuring Party Girl giving a National Guardsman a severe dressing-down over his flippant attitude regarding Elza's party of survivors. Since this is not only the very last of the Exodus older draft images but also of the old Exodus image set as a whole, and as a special bonus for all of you who have been enjoying this set of Exodus imagery and may do so in the future, here from Exodus Fragment 29 is Party Girl's cut scene in full. Enjoy.

In the meantime, the medics were busy as they started to load the many wounded on board the Chinook. One of the regular National Guard troops who was present - one of the very few, in fact - was busy jawing with his buddy as they stood guard beside the big helicopter. "Cap'n orders us all the way out here with these gung-ho spook types on some secret mission and for what? To rescue a downed Blackhawk with a bunch of worthless civvies on board? Who the fuck is running this show, anyway? We need to get the hell back to the quarantine line and just torch the whole damn place."
A young woman with short blond hair dressed in the modified "free-style" fatigues of Echo Team Command suddenly stopped in front of the pair. "Hey, smartass," she said, looking at the mouthy Guardsman.
"Yeah?" he shot back, determined not to take any guff off of her, even if she was a spook-type.
"How long you been deployed here?"
"Ever since this goddamn Outbreak went down. What's it to ya?"
The woman walked up and leaned in close. She flipped the ruffled collar of her fatigues to reveal a collar pin with three chevrons and a rocker on it. "Listen, private," she snarled, "this little op on which you happen to be stuck may very well turn out to be the single most important event of this whole fuckin' Outbreak business. Follow?"
"Yes, sergeant!" said the flustered Guardsman.
"And another thing," the woman continued, pointing at the wounded Elza as she was being carried on the Chinook. "You see that one 'worthless civvie' over there that looks like she's been run over by a truck several times?"
"Yes, sergeant."
"That civvie took out a Tyrant ... in that condition. Could you do the same -- as you are?"
The Guardsman, now totally flustered, said nothing. His companion, who had said nothing the entire time, continued to remain silent.
The blond female sergeant in Echo Team fatigues regarded the former smart aleck for a little bit longer, then let out a deep disgusted breath. "The next time you want to spew shit, son, do it out your asshole. You read me, mister?"
"Yes, sergeant."
The woman eyed them both for a few more seconds, then walked away. "As you were," they heard drift back to them in a pointedly disgusted tone.
