Description

Ported to OBJ from the Starfleet Command (SFC) conversion by Terradyhne from the stock model by Taldren Studios for the video game Klingon Academy (KA).  Preview picture posed in XNALara XPS.  NO MODEL DOWNLOAD.

At the risk of perhaps oversimplying things and possibly drawing the ire of some, the Sha'kurians (invented for KA) are the World War II Italians of the Trek multiverse.  They are one of the significant minor interstellar powers located between Klingon, Romulan, and Gorn space.  They were once a great power and had a interstellar empire millennia ago, they lost it largely due to their own fault (internal feuding, social rot and decay, etc.), and by the time of the TOS/TAS era what was left of their once-mighty empire, now reduced considerably in size, was more or less striving just to hold their own against their younger and more aggressive neighbors.  That said the Sha'kurians are not to be taken lightly.  Their sensor and scanner technology is among the best in known space, comparable to that of the Dominion (DS9), and they share with the Kzinti the penchant for deploying large numbers of well-designed small combat craft along with their starships.  Every Sha'kurian ship is thus a shuttlecarrier of sorts -- which helps them out a lot, given that as straight warships they are weaker than similar types fielded by others.  They make up for this in part by being very fast and are very good at running away from superior numbers; hence the World War II Italian analogy.  They'll fight if they have to, and on the whole are pretty good at fighting, but they'll run like hell when faced with overwhelming odds -- which makes them very hard to corner or pin down and destroy.  They're also known for using multi-warhead drones (!) and for their recent "acquisition" of a Gorn experimental weapons research facility, whose acquired technology they are currently in the process of backfitting to their own vessels.

The above image depicts a typical Sha'kurian space superiority fighter carried aboard its capital ships, code named Claw by Federation Starfleet Intelligence.  I note in passing that some authorities consider it more of an interceptor than a true fighter given its capabilities, but others disagree.  Six of one, half-a-dozen of the other, as the saying goes.

This is semi-canon, as it comes from a Franchise licensed video game.

TRIVA - Per some of the posts on the old Dynaverse boards, the Sha'kurians were not carried over for the SFC series partly because the SFB Hydrans were there to cover for their absence and partly because of the difficulty involved at the time in converting their asymmetrical starship models.  Leave to the fans to eventually fix that second problem years later, which is why you can enjoy the Sha'kurians today.  XD
