One of my all-time favorite sci-fi films. I remember well when this first came out. The first one, Max Max, made you sit up and take notice -- but The Road Warrior ... ! That movie grabbed you by the balls from the first frame and didn't let go until the end, and right before that it screamed in your ear, "DID YOU ENJOY THAT?!?!?!?!" (laugh) Yeah, the newest installment is pretty good too -- but it's this one where the franchise hit its stride, where a young Mel Gibson set the standard for all of the road warriors that would follow in his wake, and the one that almost singlehandedly redefined the post-apocalyptic sci-fi sub-genre in its own image. Its impact and legacy is still being felt today.
