Iori Yagami from King of FightersThe baddest mofo to ever venture into the KOF, Iori Yagami has always been a favorite of mine since his debut in KOF 95. Interestingly enough I am not a fan of his new design in KOF 12 and am pretty saddened about what they did with him
. But alas I am sure it will grow on me after I play it for a while.Anyway on to the REDUX, Iori to me has always been about gothic meeting ultimate power. Not only can the guy throw down with the best of them but he always looks cool doing it. I still remember when he beat the crap out Sorie in the KOF Another day anime, that was priceless. So keeping these things in mind I wanted to make sure the REDUX still kept that intimidating look yet was also goth at the same time.
I kept his overall color scheme but I embellished about every other aspect of his attire. He now has Sephiroth like long hair, which I think fits him well. He is also now sporting a sleeveless trench coat with shoulder straps that has his trade mark insignia on it (to those who think the moon is backwards go look at all the SNK art work and you will notice they alter its orientation all the time in concept sketches). Lastly his pants now sport a doubled up version of his infamous leg straps. However to combat the whole 'the straps don't make any practical sense' I added buttons so they can actually break apart if he really gets pissed and starts kicking like crazy
.Overall I am pretty happy about the way he turned out and would love to actually play with him in a game using this outfit. Maybe someday we will actually see it in game

the only thing i want to point out is that with how short the leg straps are, it doesn't look like he even even walk, much less kick...

The rendition is priceless! I think you capture his essence really well.
Yeah, i was kind of disappointed they took away his infamous leg straps. At least he still has the Crescent hair! Also I'm glad they brought him back after what happened in KoF XI. But at least it goes to show that he's not one to give up so easliy!

I love the longer hair and the burning skull.
The design, well the long hair, reminds me of Freeman from Garou: Mark of the Wolves.
And the skull looks similar to the final effect on one of Vice's specials (I think it was Mayhem), when she finishes the attack, a skull appears.

Thanks! Yep I totally understand where the freeman comment is coming from. The first thing I thought when I saw freeman was that he looked like an Iori ripoff for Garou hehe. The skull flame is just a manifestation of his power it could be anything really, actually when I first made it they were bone wings instead of the skull. Since he has close ties to Vice I think it fits him just as well though

Some kof fans think that Free man is supposed to be Iori in the future 0.0... hell no! I don't want him to become THAT crazy... just a bit crazy and pretty sadistic as in XII is perfect for me XD

Hehe for some reason when I look at Freeman, I think about the song "Woman" by Wolfmother (probably because he looks a rocker)

Whoa! This is what I've been waiting for, for a loooooong time. Its finally come. Awsome job here. At first I was saying "Oh no how can he kick now since he has a second pair of straps near his thighs but then I read the comment and saw that the had buttons that could be ripped apart. That was a good thing to add.

I also didn't like what they did to my favorite KOF character in XII... no, my favorite fictional character ever, seconded by firelord Zuko, snif, besides you can see his butt crack whie executing maiden masher T.T ... holly crap! white trousers and yellow shoes?, what the hell were they smoking!? 0.0
BTW, in fightersgeneration site, in Iori's gallery the webmaster has a gif in wich Iori punches Soiree! -that scene from another day- actually I used that as a signature in a kof forum 
about your design: I liked the long hair, actually a change in his hairstyle is what I was specting for XII, they dissapointed me a lot, but showing his arms a la Ryo...mmm... it's definetly not Iori's style, but cheer up this is way better than his new outfit in XII

I figure Iori has such a lanky body it would be cool to see his arms, especially if it was the crazy version where he is hunched over and his arms are dangling down.

I wrote that before seeing KOF 2002 UM website... you must see it, Iori's victory screen in that game (you can see it in the screenshoots section) is so... a la Shen Woo... what thew hell are they trying to make with him? I always though those leg straps were kinda awkward and ugly, but my cousin said there were kinda fashion.
That evil grin reminds me of the Kyo Kusanagi from Kof2001(i think in the chinese comics he goes a little mad) like the SDM he had.

I never thought of Iori being gothic in any way... he looked more like a standard yanki.
That having been said, this version of Iori is 10x more badass than any version thus far. The leg things still bug me, but it's good that they won't hinder his combat now.
