Description
Inspired by the extinction scene in the original 1940 Fantasia, this depicts the extinction of the Dinosaurs.Around 66-65 Million years ago, a massive meteor the size of Mt. Everest crashed into what would later be the gulf of Mexico, near the Yucatan Peninsula, the collision burned everything within a radius of 1500 km, in some places it got extremely hot, and in others earthquakes and tsunamis dominated the lands. A lot of the debris yeeted into space will orbit Earth for thousands of years, some may hit the Moon or even Mars, but most of it comes right back down. The many many MANY meteor debris travel at fast speeds, and get really hot! And since there where millions of tons of material everywhere, you can clearly see why this played a major role in how the Dinosaurs died. The increasing temperature likely evaporated watering holes, burned a lot of forests, and heated up the atmosphere to hundreds of degrees Celsius in a few minutes, or thousands in one minute, regardless of how hot it was, anything that would want a chance at surviving, would have to seek shelter in caves, or bury themselves.
After the whole heat wave thing, the vaporised plume of ash and dust from the asteroids would form together and block out the sun, if there where any plants surviving at this point, no doubt they would die now, in the oceans, 90% of the plankton which thrived on sunlight is also now extinct, this would just kill the aquatic food chain. Over the course of 1,000's of years, the Earth would begin to freeze, as a global winter would ensue, and with that... The age of reptiles... Came to a close...
