FFM Day 5 - The WorldThere is no wrong way to be caught up in the world.
There are days when the world feels dizzyingly big and monstrous and obnoxious and wonderful with too many things to see and do and hear and feel and how will I ever see them all and appreciate them for what they are in an infinitesimal slice of heaven before moving onto the next to ensure we get the best of the day and fill our brains to brim with experiences and feelings to bring us happiness when our youth is spent and our lives locked by drudgery? (It's okay, take a deep breath.)
Then there are days when all you can do is take a small walk in your spare twenty minutes, to pass by the trees and the flowers, to listen to the soft, persistent buzz of bees as they dutifully serve the hive. To feel the bright, warm sun on your skin and cooing breeze. To look up at the sky, far from others and ponder the magnificence of all the atoms being just so throughout the history of the universe, to allow you to exist and experience this moment. (There’s no need to think about all of the other beauty we’re missing out on due to our limited physiology.)
Take the quiet days and the busy in your stride; there will be another sunny day to do nothing in the quiet joy of a grassy field and there will be another day you go up to town and revel in the crowds, the museums and the food. There will be many days and no truly wrong way to experience them; even if there are god-awful ones in and of themselves. Be bold, go and explore, be brave, fill up your cup with experiences, highs and lows, sun or rain. Because we won’t get another (and if the events of the past few years are anything to go by, maybe that’s not such a bad thing).
