I've noticed that you've gotten more and more adventurous with your lighting in your recent paintings. Starting with "Lukyanivka, Kyiv region," it seems like you've taken your brand of impressionism and dumped a bucket-load of emotion and interest into the work through highly varied and often dramatic contrast. Β I really like your style overall, but your recent work has been especially impressive.
This painting makes me wonder what's behind me. Β As I look away from the cheerful and bright colors of the center, it gets darker and gloomier. Β In my mind, that trend continues out of the frame and the scene behind me would be frightening if I looked at it. Β

A lovely painting. It is kind of reminiscent of the view near my house, at least before the nearby school was renovated and the "park" next to it torn down. Perhaps that is why the painting creates such a warm, soothing feeling, along with a hint of nostalgia.
