I am an Aspie with Asperger's, an autistic with autism. I am on the spectrum. I am not sick. I do not have a disease that needs a cure. I should not have to use "person first" language only, because autism isn't a problem, and exclusively using "person first" terminology should be saved for actual problems. I am not all deficit, even though I have a few deficits. I am not "suffering", nor do I "live with" autism. I'm not "suffering from" or "living with" Asperger's, either. Asperger's is a form of autism. It's a way for a brain to be built. I do not have a mental illness, I am neurodiverse. There's no such thing as "high functioning" or "low functioning" autism. Asperger's is on the autism spectrum. It's such a large part of who I am that if one were to get rid of it, I would not be here. I have an autistic mind, which is one of the many types of minds that the world needs.
