Its pages transcribe arcane rites and shifting runes once uttered by the long-extinct Storm Cult of Aeror to call forth typhoons, hurricanes, and raging squalls from the swirling chaos of the Elemental Maelstrom Plane.

It is said this profane tome spontaneously manifested in the waning catastrophe of the Shattering Storm - an apocalyptic primordial deluge unleashed by the cult's hubris that unmade their entire sky-realm. As the final atmospheric cataclysms tore their domain asunder, the books of rites used to summon such devastation coalesced from the very cyclonic energies they channeled into a singular imperishable vortex-bound codex.

Any arcane mind reckless enough to plunder the Tempestarii's gale-etched pages risks having their consciousness scattered eternally across the howling tempest's raging spiral arms.

Properties:
Storm Rune Empowerment: By ritually etching glyphs from the Codex upon spell foci, ammunition or melee weapons prior to combat, those items become infused with cyclonic might for 1 hour. Critical strikes unleash vortex shockwaves that push enemies 10 feet back and knock prone.
Vortex Shield: As a bonus action, the wielder can expend charges from the Codex to cloak themselves in whirling wind barriers for 1 minute - gaining resistance to lightning, cold, fire, and thunder damage while within the cyclone's eye.
Moebius Page Flaying: Whenever the Tempestarii is opened during a severe atmospheric disturbance, its infinite coiling pages rapidly rotate and churn with violent shifting airs.
