My Thoughts:
This one kinda came out of nowhere. I've been working on a commission on-and-off today and eventually decided to take a break by just dicking around in Blender. Eventually, I wanted to learn cell shading for the 13th time this year and I've always found YouTube tutorials to be a bit too complex for this matter, so I tried to cheat googling for a simple addon to get cel shading. Ironically, searching this made a youtube tutorial come up that was swift, easy to follow and didn't use 500 math nodes. I had finally done it! Made cell shading in my scene! Of course, I knew who this was perfect for. The gal who is from a cell-shaded game. And obviously, this was the first thing I did with this new cell-shading technology: (cdn.discordapp.com/attachments… ) And after that, I made a real first impression: (cdn.discordapp.com/attachments… ). That was just after this screenshot: (cdn.discordapp.com/attachments… ). But enough screenshots. Basically, I had the character and the scene I wanted to make. Inspired by a piece I had seen recently, I wanted to make an instant glass-flattening followed by physics cloth flopping. Needless to say, I'm quite chuffed with how it came out. This animation wasn't made to be cinematic or look absolutely amazing (Although I tried salvaging the lighting at the end), but it was intended to be experimental. An experiment I'd say is about 70% successful. The other 30% failure comes from the frustration I had battling the lighting to make the scene look good after incorporating cell shading. That, and the advanced methods I used to make the animation seamless. By advanced, I mean brute force basic methods until they work. And they did! So in a way, this is somewhat of a success in of itself.
This animation just appeared out of the blue. 5 hours ago I was thinking of an idea to execute using a brand new method, and then in this very moment as I'm typing this, it's done. I really had no intent on uploading today, but here we are. Classic DR brain and its spontaneous moments. Anyway, I've babbled on more than I wanted to for these thoughts, so I'll end it here. Hopefully you enjoy my experimentation!
