Description
This is an old photograph from an old collage [link] and I just thought I'd upload it, a) because it rocks, b) because it's one of the coolest text based tattoos I've ever seen, c) it makes a statement.She is a women's lit major. She can run circles around me in feminist theory. It's kind of a joke too, she's a lesbian, she even has rainbow tattoos across her feet, [link] but that's the reason for the location of this particular tattoo. No one forgets that she's a person, even in the throws of passion.

Thank you but it's a horrible photograph. It's grainy, there's not enough light, it's blurry, the only thing that saved it was hours of digital manipulation. I need a reshoot bad.

I, for one, like the way it looks. The grainy, warm quality of the photograph makes my soul feel at ease. To me, it doesn't matter what it means. It feels good.

Thank you so much. I like the grainyness of it too, as unintentional as it might have been. It was just 400 ISO film with lousy lighting conditions so it didn't turn out so well but it's beautiful nonetheless. Have you seen this [link] ?

Now i have. That one is very cold looking, because of the color scheme. I would venture to say it looks like a stone sculpture.

Interesting perception. I've always thought it looked warm because of all the light. It is a little sculpturesque except for the smoke. When they figure out a way to sculpt with smoke I'll change mediums.

while i totally understand the message etc, i'm still not in line with this.. i wouldnt want a billboard like that in front of me "in the throws of passion".. and if she aint an object, noone can touch her, nothing can be written on her nonexisting skin etc etc. so its a paradox.
maybe she is just that.. a paradox, contradicting herself.

Exactly. It's a little bit like like Duchamp's "This is not a pipe." He reminds you that the painting is just swabbed color, but we resist and say, but it still IS one. In the same manner, this piece shouts "I AM most certainly definitely 100% an object / sex receptacle." No one ever forgets she is a person? Yeah right, she says.

It's pretty sweet, I'll give you that. I actually need to reshoot it, this one is touched up to the point where it is barely recognizable when compared to the original and it is still grainy and the color is off. I just went to see the Breeders with her last week but it wasn't exactly the right environment to ask her to take her pants off.

Great composition--yeah, the message is totally powerful, and the pose adds to its emphasis. I'd suggest trying to take a macro version of this (clearer image, basically).

I don't see her very often and even then I seldom find myself in a situation where I can ask her to take off her pants. You're right though, I do need to do a reshoot.
