Description
NOTICE (2):Notice 1: If your dAmnGotMail script has stopped working and you're using Firefox, this is due to a bug in version 32+ which breaks a vital part of the script's code. This will not harm your use of deviantART in any way, it just won't update your inbox for the time being.
Notice 2: After the recent update to deviantART, I am currently working on a new version to make it more aesthetically and structurally pleasing (such as replacing older style classes and object layouts for the newer ones), but I cannot continue until Firefox fixes the bug mentioned in the above notice.

Due to recent changes with Google Chrome, user scripts and apps which aren't in the Google Web Store will no longer work. To solve this, please use Tampermonkey as instructed below.6/08/2013 - Current Version: 1.7
Fixed a bug receiving notifications due to the deviantART store news being removed from the feed. Changes have been made to fix this in version 1.7. My apologies for the delay of this fix. It was presumed to be the previous Google Chrome glitch due to the Chromium project; however, when the bug was fixed, the script then failed again due to the deviantART store closing for good.Description:This is dAmnGotMail, an automatic inbox refresh script..
The purpose of this script is to automatically notify you of new messages in your inbox without having to reload the page; this is especially helpful when on the chat network.
The inspiration to make this script came from Dediggefedde . He gave some extremely helpful advice; the script is also modeled on two of the functions used in his script Devsidebar which is an amazing piece of work. I have since released multiple changes to the original script and have further refined it, fixing any bugs and improving the design both in its code as well as aesthetically.
This script for Firefox (Greasemonkey) or Google Chrome, will automatically update your deviantART inbox located on your menu bar.
It does not interfere with the user menus, however, and is very simple.
How to install...
for Firefox:
First make sure you have Firefox with the Greasemonkey plugin.
If you do not have Greasemonkey, click here to get it now. 
Once you have Greasemonkey, download the script:► Click here to go to the script home page! ◄
Then just install the script, restart Firefox, and enjoy!for Chrome:

Then just install the script in Violentmonkey, restart Opera, and enjoy!Important Notice:Make sure you have the Splinter Menu turned off before using this script. It was not designed for the Splinter Menu and will most likely cause undesired effects.
Change Log:Verison 1.7: Fixed bug after the closing of the deviantART store.
Version 1.6: Fixed login issues, Improved design, fixed Activity Stack and fixed Journal Stack.
Version 1.5: Fixed the 1 (1 Note) glitch and now it will only display 1 Note, 2 Notes, etc whenever you have notes and no other messages.
Version 1.4: Fixed a minor visual formatting error. Script will no longer miss a "bar" between certain items and the notes item.
Version 1.3: Separated Correspondence messages from the Feedback messages; this makes the script seem closer to the original inbox's look.
Version 1.2: Cleaned up the script a bit. Slightly increased stability.
Version 1.1: Fixed for Google Chrome. Runs better on both browsers.
Known Bugs:Does not work with Group Messages
Does not work with the splinter menu
Does not work with Mentions

This is a great, great, great browser extension. I love it! Now, someone needs to make an app that checks for messages so I don't have to use my browser to chat with my friends -_-

Well a PC program could be possible for it, but it would basically function like a browser lol

It's a pretty popular site, so I don't think it'll die anytime soon. If it still won't work, try googling for a "proxy browser" and use a site to proxy there.
If it works, then it's probably your ISP, DNS, or something is just acting up in between.

Ah, yeah they're doing the same thing the group messages did.
I may look into it at some point, though I'm not entirely thrilled with mentions. I've actually turned my mentions off due to how annoying they can be.
I'd get mentions for every plz icon or emote I ever made.. lol

I think I just found a little bug:
dAmnGotMail doesn't consider the Mentions.
Personally, I won't miss them as I quite oftenly have other type of messages.

Just like any greasemonkey add-on.. Click the greasemonkey drop down and click the script you want to disable.

I have a phantom group message. Like I click it and theres nothing there in the group thing when I click. Its annoying me. It goes away when I have other things but comes back when I dont.

I've had that naturally without the plugin.. It's probably in one of the groups you moderate. Also, the plugin itself shouldn't show group messages at all anyways.
You'll see it for like 1-2 seconds and then it shouldn't show until you reload the page.

Are you using version 1.7? Because its working fine right now as I just removed some devwatch messages and it worked perfectly.
Check which version you have, if you have splinter menu, and try to describe the problem.

yep installed 1.7 again!! im not using the splinter menu, im using the normal one
even though the script is installed and its says its on, the script doesnt work! its not coming up with the credit when i hover over my messages
i also installed the ghostery addon, and noscript in the past few days. i uninstalled noscript, and disabled ghostery and restarted to check if that was the problem, but it wasnt! ; n ;

It may be a conflict with another script.. Try turning all scripts off? If that doesn't work, try the script on Google Chrome and tell me if it works.

There's something with your version of firefox and/or its add-ons, because it works in your Chrome and it works in my Firefox. Try fully removing the script and reinstalling.
Reinstall firefox, turn off all add-ons except for Greasemonkey, etc..

Any chance you'll be fixing the group messages bug in the near future? I absolutely love your script, but I've missed a few group messages now because I didn't realize and I have to turn off your script at this point. I'm going to regret it in chat.
... though I've found that if I turn on the script in a new tab/window, load the chat window, and then turn off the script, it's still running in the chat tab.

That's not really a known issue, it's just how Greasemonkey and/or Chrome user scripts work.
Once the script is active, turning it off won't do anything without reloading the page(s) which are effected.
As for the group messages.. It would take at least hours to figure it out as it treats each group inbox as a separate inbox from your own messages.
So it's like it's reading another user inbox in addition to your own. I would have to take all the inbox numbers, find a way to filter out non-group inboxes, find a way to actually allow the script to loop, and then style the script to add the group messages without breaking the graphical make of the message drop-down.
So the short answer is not planning on it as of yet.. Sorry :/

Ah, my apologies.. There was a bug previously in Google Chrome and I had thought that was a part of it.
It turns out, this was due to the deviantART store closing. I have just fixed the release and everything should be solved once you install version 1.7..
