SteamMouse In reply to ??? [2015-01-29 03:59:32 +0000 UTC]
Welcome! I went back and checked, yes, Lego deleted them, but several people have reposted them.

Something with Pohatu being a loner, or at least the way he appears to be doesn't sit right with me.
But,Β I like how Tahu and Kopaka just got into it, first time meeting. Even without a translationΒ it was still amusing.Β

Pretty sure all Lego IPs are using that same animation style, or at least Mixels is. Not that I'm complaining because it looks awesome for Bonkle

I know how to spell Bionicle. It's called slang

well i had never heard or seen anyone use that particular slang and I've run into more people that just don't spell anything right than those who just use slang, so i had no way of knowing.

Dude, chill the frik out. Bionicle/Bonkle fans hate people like you. Everything about LEGO and Bionicle is about free expression. Deal with it.

Boob-Slave In reply to Drakmanka [2015-02-09 04:33:39 +0000 UTC]
I wasn't calling him/her a dick over free expression. I was calling them a dick for taunting me over not knowing people also called it Bonkle. I had never heard/seen people call it that before, so how was I supposed to know people called it that?

Drakmanka In reply to Boob-Slave [2015-02-09 05:35:19 +0000 UTC]
Considering the fact that this is a Bionicle fan-art piece they commented on, I would think you could work it out. Also, I don't see how they were 'taunting' you. Just informing you of what the word Bonkle means since you didn't sort it out on your own.

Boob-Slave In reply to Drakmanka [2015-02-09 06:06:10 +0000 UTC]
obviously, you and I have fully different interpretations of things, and I'm sick of this conversation still going just because I had a different opinion on a fucking art-style.

Drakmanka In reply to Boob-Slave [2015-02-09 06:28:27 +0000 UTC]
If you kept your temper in check and didn't flip out over people having other opinions, maybe this conversation wouldn't have ever started in the first place. This might be the internet, but actions still have some consequences.

Boob-Slave In reply to Drakmanka [2015-02-09 06:55:02 +0000 UTC]
now that I think of it, this conversation had nothing to do with you. this was between me and one other individual. you decided to just show up out of nowhere over a week after it was over, so I really couldn't give a fuck right now if I tried. in fact, I'm going to end this annoyance of dealing with you right now.

Actually, I'm in love with that simplified style. Some things look strange as a result, but the art style itself more than makes up for that. Less is more, y'know?

i know, but the only bionicle movie i ever got to watch was legends of metro nui. in that one, they actually looked like bionicles. when i first saw this style, i thought it was another budget-cut suffering tranformers cartoon.

IrrationallyRational In reply to Boob-Slave [2015-01-28 15:46:32 +0000 UTC]
Meh. The animation in the old movies wasn't as high a standard even on the animation standards of 2003-2005.
I look at everyone in the newer animations and just see moving, stylized versions of the sets, so I got no idea where you're coming from on the "they don't look like bonkles" thing.
Also, I think the last budget cut-suffering show we got was G1. All the animation styles since have been by choice at this point, as bad as some of them were (COUGH tf:energon COUGH). I found Animated to have a really cool visual style. It was simple, it had flare, and it was fun to look at. TF shows do not suffer in the least (visually), if one actually has the capacity to admire an art style.

Boob-Slave In reply to IrrationallyRational [2015-01-28 15:52:27 +0000 UTC]
i meant that they look like transformers if the budget was a ham sandwich; not comparing it to an actual show since i didn't really watch the transformers cartoons. i saw a lot of commercials for them, so i know what they looked like, and when i first saw this design for the bionicles, i thought it was a new transformers cartoon, but without a budget. as far as them looking like bionicles, I'm talking about the actual toy. in Legends of Metru Nui, they actually looked almost exactly like the actual toy.

IrrationallyRational In reply to Boob-Slave [2015-01-28 15:57:35 +0000 UTC]
Ah, I see. I can see what you mean, but really I think it's just a matter of how it resonates with us visually I suppose. I mean, I'm not gonna deny some moments looked weird (Like Onua getting ready to pound LoSS with his hammer or any moment they changed their masks), but eh. I'm just a sucker for art styles with a lot of personality, so meh.
As for Legends of Metru Nui, they did a fine job of establishing a look that showed off the set it represented, but absolutely nothing resembled a set exactly. I point to the Vahki, Teridax, and the Matoran as prime examples.

i was referring to the characters. not the locations. the main characters (i forgot their names because i haven't watched it in years) look almost 1 for 1 like their toy counterparts.
π: 0 β©: 1
IrrationallyRational In reply to Boob-Slave [2015-01-28 16:03:23 +0000 UTC]
...I wasn't referring to backgrounds, I was referring to character models. Sure they looked... mostly like their toy counterparts, but they were still stylized to the point of not even being close to an exact resemblance. Proportions, different design cues, various parts of their bodies removed or replaced by some other component, y'know.

Boob-Slave In reply to IrrationallyRational [2015-01-28 16:05:04 +0000 UTC]
admittedly, yes, but it was still closer than this. it was easier for me to recognize them as bionicles is what I'm getting at.

IrrationallyRational In reply to Boob-Slave [2015-01-28 16:22:39 +0000 UTC]
Ah. I myself had no qualms seeing what they were, but I guess it's because I look for flavor details like obvious brain stalks and specific patterns as opposed to looking at the whole thing.
