Here is something I did last night as its a Sketch group some of my friends and I host. So come by
The one of our topics of the night was take a movie, thats not necessarily for Kids and make it for a childrens book. I did Star Wars lol

Luke's hand should have been bloody and missing just to add to the scene reference to the movie LOL! Instead of Luke freaking out after he gets his hand cut off and finds out he had been trying to kill his father that he didn't know he had the entire time, he leaps into Vader's arms and screams DADDY! Thank you for that amazing mental image xD

AWWW. This is probably the most fun (and original) interpretation of that scene ever.
Actually, taking material for adults and orienting it for children is pretty popular of late. I've seen picture books about - of all things - 'King Lear' and 'Hamlet', which manage to do this AND stay true to the horribly tragic stories. It's pretty surprising.
