Description My Ventrue, Eva Kopacek, and her sometime lover James Hargrave of Clan Daeva.

It's nice to see Eva actually happy for once - these two had an interesting relationship, not-quite-love but at least a mutual appreciation and understanding (something very impressive for Eva to have managed). When Eva fled to Chicago to escape the crisis in New Orleans, James was one of the first Kindred contacts she gained and they veguely fell into each other as she tried to overcome the memories of her past. Of course things became a little one-sided when she recovered and the two parted.. but she got 2 or 3 years of actual enjoyable Requiem before the Chicago Prince went crazy and the city began to implode o.0

I'm far happier with the way Eva came out than I am with James. Admittedly I've never drawn him before, so that could be part of it. Must learn how to draw men. I browsed a lot of DA for hints on James' face and I took a peek at ~TeRojo 's work for hints on Eva's nose - I hope that was ok.

Time - 3 hours. Materials - blunt HB pencil, tiny rubber, smudgy paper, patience.

Very sweet line art, lady. I really apreciate the things you do without a photo as a base layer. I think you should do more things like this.

So do I, I just really miss having life reference

On the other hand, I need to learn to work with references. I try to do everything without looking at any kind of reference, and sometimes I miss a lot of details because of it.

I think we should both use references as guides, not as blueprints or as nothing, then.

Hehe, this must be the lovely lady, eh? How old is she btw? She's exactly how I imagined her, except maybe a couple of years younger!
You should definately colour this one, maybe with just simple 'washes' as, despite the blunt pencil, the lines look really neat :3 I kinda envy how you do human faces, I really struggle even with anime style, nevermind semi-realism!

This is quite possibly a mis-picture of her, she looks about 18 whereas in reality she appears 23-ish. The chibi icon of her is a nice descriptor of her personality; for facial features I'd go here - [link]
Eva's the one on the left, her chin's a tiny bit big and her eyes are slightly too close together but otherwise it's about accurate. She changes her hair around sometimes like a normal person

Thank you for the compliment, it was nice to hear how much you appreciated the sketch

Ahh, yes, I did imagine her early 20s, so that's good! Definately a good one in the other image of her! Faces, goodness, so hard to do. Hehe. I will keep her hair up I think, she looks nice and sophisticated! Sorry for her pic taking so long btw... I wanted it to be simple and bold, but somehow I've royally messed up and might need to redo it ._. I'd hate to not do her justice.
But anyways! You keep doodling!

Sophisticated understated glamour is very good for Eva - as is driven and businesslike, but in a different setting

Please don't worry about the pic, I will wait as long as it takes

I did love the original sketch and would be happy with anything in that style.

I will start proper work soon/now. But expect more vampires in a couple of months, especially with the vampire contests over at #ClanVentrue and #TheMasqueradeClans in August/September (in fact I suggest you take a peek at those as you'd be in with a good chance)

Hehe, I'll do my best! I'm not changing the original sketch idea, I've just managed to destroy the colouring by getting my layers all unorganised ._.
Did have a look at those contests, some very tempting prizes I do admit! Hope you'll be doing some nice pics for them :3 Hehe.

I'm only doing one or two, but I hope so! My first attempt (so not supposed to be working on it now) is up in my gallery folder. I can't wait for my special

If you need any more there is one more sketch here - [link]
It's more like her than this one, anyway.

I draw too many vampires. *sigh*

Hmm, there's a fair few in your scraps just showing the little red X... not sure what causes that. My scraps often do the same straight after upload, but they usually sort themselves out >_< I blame this Version 7...lol

It might be the fact that some of them are Restricted Content??

They all show up for me, so I'm not sure what to suggest. I can give you the links?? .. [link] is Eva and [link] is the painting I'm needing advice on

Hehe, I don't have any content filters on Hell, half the anthro gallery wouldn't show up! >_> lulz
But yay, those links work now, thankies! Another sophisticated Eva there! Gotta take 2 weeks out from painty stuff now as I'm heading to Cornwall tomorrow, so will get bak on track after that!
As for your Lorelai pic, it's looking superb, so no worries there! As long as you keep the shadows nice and cool it'll be a really beautiful portrait! Can't wait to see the final

Thank you, sadly you may have to due to Big Girl

Weird question but do you or Mike have any photos I could use for reference? It feels like cheating but I really need more examples of kids playing, reading, sleeping, crowd scenes, streets, town layouts, household objects, curtains, windows.. anything really. I don't like using on the internet as it's without permission. If so.. please may I have them, please?

My email I can pm you if so

Thank you, so much

Hope you get this before you go

I look forward to yours too and hope it'll be great! Thanks for the advice, I need more blue/green in the shadows but I'm trying to balance that with using a more realistic style. Would Mike be happy to give advice too? I'd welcome it if he wants to.

Enjoy the holiday!!

Hi Debs! Managed to get a few mins internet every so often (is expensive down here!) so thought I best reply!
So! Just as a quickie, feel free to use anything off my Facebook or DA accounts if you want, would be really nice to see what you can do if there happens to be any of use! Short of those obvious suggestions, I don't really keep much else I'm afraid >_<
Hope that's a bit of help. Will speak again soon!

bem ... Eva demontra mais expressΓ£o que o James, James parece nao demostrar sentimento, parece que sΓ³ admira com os olhos. (poderia me dizer onde eu errei?)
parabens pelo trabalho

πŸ‘: 0 ⏩: 1

Dkelabirath In reply to Antuniey [2010-07-18 10:30:57 +0000 UTC]

Eva is .. interested, but perhaps a little underhandedly. James on the other hand is more entranced/in love than she is, and more comfortable with the idea of equal relationships, so he's admiring her but she is more .. not 'using' him, but certainly 'enjoying' him. This isn't a shared moment as much as a snapshot of two different people.

Not much more than a sketch though

What you seemed to say is that their expressions were odd - but not really whose or why, I didn't quite understand before which I regret.

Perhaps - "Eva demonstrates more feeling than James in her expression. James does not seem to demonstrate true feeling, his eyes are admiring but not as attracted."

I haven't seen a lot of James yet, as he's only been in one story, but he seems fairly decent (at least for a vampire) and although Eva chooses personality, utility and social standing over appearance she isn't immune to good looks.

Oh, by the way, you see how she's baring her neck there? That's not submission It's a very subtle hint at vinculum.. more seduction or requesting his submission

Dkelabirath In reply to Caffeinated-Bunny [2010-07-12 15:19:56 +0000 UTC]

Well, it's almost certainly true
We didn't stipulate James' appearance so I figured he was a bit of a New Romantic, having been Embraced just before short hair became fashionable on men.
