Description
This mantis was attracted to the light trap we set up a few weeks ago, but it stayed in some nearby bushes. It stayed still enough to let me snap a few nice shots.Related content

Oh my god he is so cute!
I have a strange love of Mantis faces, they can be so expressive depending on the angle.

I tried to take macro shots of a mantis I found a few months ago... None of them came out a quarter so well as this. This is amazing.
(I love mantises... or manti?)

Simply incredible! It's form is amazing, the image is just perfect! We can see all the little details, the individual lenses of it's eyes, the little furs on it's legs. I had never seen this little creature so up close. Thank you for the wonderfull work, this Daily Deviation was well merited!

That's pretty awesome, and a great use of a magnification lens (I'm assuming).
Now that I think about it, mantises pretty much *always* look alert. Or perhaps they always ARE alert. Either way, he's certainly paying attention.

These guys are so cool.
I found one on our side yard and it looked really skinny, so I gave it a mealworm and it ate the WHOLE thing. He was happy after that.
