Chapter 4: Salazar

Jaz watched his sister's dead body fall to the floor, the whole ordeal seeming in slow motion to him as her body crashed down on the cold stone floor of the director's office. He looked up from his sister and the pool of blood now surrounding her body to see a guy who stood around 7 ft tall, as big as the door, clad in some kind of crimson steel armour like what was used in the medieval times holding a sword that was way bigger than it should have been. Jaz backed away from the figure, falling back into a sitting position. He drew his revolver and shot at the armoured figure; the high calibre bullets doing nothing buy ricocheting off the armour, which seemed to be made of something extremely dense, about twice as dense as the steel his bullets were made of. Jaz kept shooting until his gun ran out of bullets. The Amour clad giant brought the sword over head and then swung down at Jaz. Jaz rolled sideways, and upon standing up dived for one of the hilts. Jaz picked up the hilt and held it up, the blade flying up and out. The figure swung at Jaz, who deflected the sword by using his own to guide it away from his body, he then span and sliced the shoulder plate clean off, but not even a drop of blood ran down his blade, instead of blood what seemed to be sand poured out the wound before quickly stopping.

Jaz backed away from giant figure before him, holding the sword up. He swung at his head, catching his opponent off guard, and knocked the helmet he wore clean off his head. The view Jaz now saw almost made him throw up, even though he hadn't eaten all day, and he had to cover his mouth with his hand briefly to prevent himself. Whatever he was fighting obviously wasn't human, well wasn't anymore. The head was so dehydrated you could see the skin sticking to the bone underneath and its hair was as dead as straw and the few strands he had lay flat against his gray skinned head. He took a breath, showing it had all but 2 yellow teeth missing, before it lunged at Jaz with the intent of running the large sword it held through him. Jaz jumped aside as a bullet hit the back of its head and caused it to explode all over him. Jaz wiped the blood off his face and looked up at the door way were Daniel was standing with his pistol pointed into the room, faint smoke emanating from the barrel of the black gun. Daniel dropped his aim and sheathed the pistol. He then got on his knees and checked Serenity's pulse.

Removing his fingers from her neck, Daniel closed her eyes and shook his head at Jaz to indicate she was dead. Daniel stood up, his gaze still glued to his sister's dead body, he was on the verge of crying when he picked up her limp body, "Let's go" he ordered, "we have what we came for" Daniel then exited the room without a word, followed quickly by Jaz once he had retrieved his revolver and Serenity's other blade.

As Daniel made his way through the maze of hallways that made up the bunker he kept hearing a voice in his head, a hissing of sorts that formed words somehow. The voice instructed him where to make turns in the labyrinth, Daniel subconsciously following these directions. The two of them came to a stop outside a steel door, it seemed to have been welded shut, never intended to be opened again. Daniel put Serenity's body on the floor and took the kit from Jaz, he took out a blow torch and began using it to cut through the door. Soon finished Daniel kicked the door down and took Serenity inside, "Dan, what are you doing?" Jaz asked, "We getting outta here or what?"
"Hold on, I know what I'm doing" He answered, when in actual fact he had no idea what he was doing.

~Over here~ the kissing voice said into Daniel's head, but he followed where the voice seemed to come from. In the corner there was a large cylinder tank of green-black tinted water and a large anaconda snake floating in the middle of it. ~I know how to retrieve your sssibling from the afterlife~ It hissed into his mind, ~But you must do sssomething for me~
"What?" Daniel asked it.
"I dain't say nothing" Jaz said to Daniel as he looked through the various draws in the table, to which Daniel didn't answer.
~You must bond with me~ the snake told him, more as an order than a request, ~You musst allow our ssspirit's to become one~
"How?" Daniel asked, low enough to avoid Jaz hearing his half of this convocation.
~simply touch me and I will do the rest, but do not offer any ressistance~
"deal, but we save my sister first" Daniel said, not sure if he could trust this creature
~Deal. The ssecond drawer on the right dessk~ it instructed him, ~there is a symbol labelled Heaven sigil. Burn that mark into her arm~

Daniel practically ripped the drawer out the desk and sorted through the various papers until he found the right one. He dug his way through the lockers and drawers in the room, desperate to find something to use to burn the mark into her skin. Eventually he pulled a welding torch out of a supply cupboard and proceeded to use it to burn an exact copy of that symbol into her arm.

The second Daniel had completed the mark, which looked like a cross with an arch at the top right and the bottom left of it with two dots and the left of the top mark and two dots on above the left most edge of the bottom mark, it began to glow pure white. A white mist emanated from the mark and enshrouded her body, lifting it up off the floor, and then shot into her mouth, nose and eyes before she finally dropped to the dusty floor with a dull thud.

When the dust had settled back to the floor Serenity stood up and looked at her hands and then checked her chest; the large wound had completely sealed itself and left no visible trace of it ever being there. She got to her feet and checked her face, hair and just about everything else, "I... I'm alive" She shouted with all the joy in the world. This caught Jaz's attention, and when he looked up he jumped to his feet and tackled serenity in an uncharacteristic hug.
"Hey, get off me ya lug," Serenity yelled at him, which only made him laugh, "I mean it. Get off or I'll cut you off" she shouted and Jaz took that as a sign to move.

~Now. Our deal,~ Salazar informed Daniel
Daniel looked at Serenity and then nodded, "Alright, a deal's a deal." Daniel climbed up to the top of the tank and put his hand in the ice water and Salazar bit his hand. Daniel pulled his hand out and fell off the tank onto the floor, "Ahh" He yelled at the bite and the proceeded to scream in intense pain as latin words burned themselves into his skin on his right hand and arm and then Salazar released his grip, "There, I'm done" He told the human lying on the floor, "they pain will subside shortly."

"Hey, get off me ya lug," Serenity yelled at him, which only made him laugh, "I mean it. Get off or I'll cut you off" she shouted and Jaz took that as a sign to move.

~Now. Our deal,~ Salazar informed Daniel
Daniel looked at Serenity and then nodded, "Alright, a deal's a deal." Daniel climbed up to the top of the tank and put his hand in the ice water and Salazar bit his hand. Daniel pulled his hand out and fell off the tank onto the floor, "Ahh" He yelled at the bite and the proceeded to scream in intense pain as latin words burned themselves into his skin on his right hand and arm and then Salazar released his grip, "There, I'm done" He told the human lying on the floor, "they pain will subside shortly."
