As she trudged up the winding mountain path, the young half-elf couldn't help but feel a wave of nervous anticipation. It had been two long years since she had last seen her master Cless, who had taken her in and taught her the ways of magic. During this time she had served as a guardsman at Safe Haven Keep, the royal seat of the Republic of Spira. The sun was slowly setting, bathing her slender frame in a warm golden light. The fresh scent of oak and pine filled her nostrils, and as she approached her mentor's humble abode, nestled against the side of the mountain, she let out a deep breath. Her heart racing, she raised her hand to knock on the door, eager to be reunited with her mentor once again.
