Description
This is a not-to-scale representation of the solar system rendered in origami. That is to say, it's the solar system as I learned as a kid with 9 planets. Starting on the left in reverse order is Pluto, Neptune, Uranus, Saturn, Jupiter, Mars, Earth, Venus, Mercury, and the Sun. Saturn's rings are a little wonky because that's right where the panoramic image happened to get spliced.I used map graphics that I found various places on the internet (Mostly through NASA pages) and ran them through a script that generates the triangle edge module templates that can be assembled to form the various planets. I actually had to design the ring modules for Saturn which was also an interesting challenge.
Kits for all of these origami globes are available for download at my website at origami.doft.net/sites/origami…
