One of the main reasons so many youth are homeless is simply because of prejudice on the guardian's part.

- A disproportionately large group of kids forced to leave their own home are pregnant teens. I work at a government funded living program for teen moms and their children and our shelter is always holding the maximum amount of young women, and there is a perpetually enormous waiting line to get in. This problem stems from close-mindedness. Some people believe so strongly that premarital sex is a sin that they would either force their own daughter her unborn child out of her own home, or abuse her until she feels that running away is her only option.

- And the largest group of youths forced out of their homes are Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual and transgendered teens. About 26% of LGBT youth are forced to leave their own homes after coming out to their parents. This type of ignorance should not be going on in this day-and-age, so try to help change people's hearts and minds so they can be more accepting of their own children.
