Allow me to just re-post a small commentary that I've recently made, as of lately, for the sake of valiantly defending Asgore's innocence!
"Now wait just a tiny second here! This is also Toriel's fault as well! Ever since she became "disgusted" with Asgore's aggressive behavior, she literally left her duty as a QUEEN, thereby not giving a flying rat's ass for her own people, apart from that she even has the NERVE to not forgive Asgore? Pardon me here, but a King and a Queen are a fateful duo that are thoughtfully meant to soothe the monster population, by caring and stabilizing the order of things around and she just leaves EVERYTHING up to Asgore, not even taking into consideration the reasonable fact that he was suffering from the deaths of their own children! That's basically a twisted dagger that stabbed poor Asgore's heart into millions of pieces ;-;, instead of mainly remaining there for the sake of changing Asgore's own point of view and by eventually leading to convince him that just that one SOUL would've been sufficient, after the first death!(After all a King represents the font of Strength and Authority, basically the ORDER, while the Queen represents stability and benevolence)

In the shortest of all terms, Toriel made Asgore suffer unbelievably difficult. You'd think that he has an iron will but he doesn't, as a matter of fact, since he's so noble~hearted

Aye, Toriel! Haven't you seen the Pacifist Run ending? She basically doesn't give a care for Asgore, at all, whereas she shamelessly brought it upon herself, being at a fault for the suffering of her own people! Who'd abandon their duty like that? Toriel's a crazy woman. Asgore had a will of iron! He steeled himself through, even though he's lost so much, but he came to regret his own fabled decision, in regards with the fate of the Underground's monster population!

Yeah, Toriel lost some points with me for piling on him like that, but I guess that just goes to show that there's still something there. But still, the point is that they are both flawed and have made bad decisions. And that's part of why we love them. But I still think Asgore's actions are more understandable.
