Description
Well...since some ppl asked me about how I paint, so...here is my semi-realism painting method. This is just a trial design of my OC Helios, I'm still experimenting to find the right look of him which fits with what I have in mind.Final result:
Hope it gives you a little idea about how I do it.
By the way, I won't be here until April 20 due to National Exam. OTL Sorry for not replying.

now, why do you do a gray layer before the colors?
i must know! nice drawing by the way.

The grey scale tone is used so you can distinguish proper shading and lighting. That way when you're coloring you're not guessing at where your darks and lights are going and it gives you a better picture of what colors you might want to use.

if you don't mind my asking - how do you define the blending in the color layer to get it to preserve the shading properly?

That part's probably just through experience and practice. You're referring to the bottom middle, correct? When she starts freehand adding color to the color-layered grayscale?

Amazingly gorgeous! How do you nail the skin color so nicely when you colorise? Is it just an additional Color layer or do you use some other ones as well?

I love this and Oh my god the look in his eyes.
I think I prefered his mouth slightly more open though, bit more mischevious.

this is so cool and amazingly helpful , but does this mean you put colour over the grey paint ?
even though you have a technique its all down to your amazing talent

Im not 100% sure, but I think its either one of these two:
1) this was painted in grayscale, where all the colors are black/white but the color is still there... bad explanation. OTL Basically the color info is there, but since its in grayscale, its seen as grey. than you can convert the image to a RGB or a CMY image, and the color will be seen
or
2) It was done in just grey, than a color layer on photoshop was used.
I know I'm really bad at explanations, so just ask if I havent been clear ^_^||

usually it's #2 unless you're converting a colored picture to be printed in b+w for a graphic novel.

Yes, but not a lot of people have photoshop. A lot of people use sai or illustudio, so they do it in grey scale

uh.....yeah that's you said "#2 it was done in just grey (meaning grey scale) and then a color layer on photoshop (or equal graphic design program) was used."
