ReinoutJansen In reply to ??? [2011-06-21 11:06:29 +0000 UTC]
Indeed.. What happened to the bad-ass wetgirl... You're supposed to be a cold-blooded magic-assassin...

It's more along the lines of, I just hate her. Her personality, how Kylar goes off with her at the end. She's just, ugh, go die in a ditch.
To tell the truth, I disliked her in the first book as well, but when she kidnapped Durzo's kid it started a full-on hate fest.

Agreed... The only moment I actually liked her was in Beyond the Shadows when she talks to her "class-mates" about being a prostitute...

Vi's just not very likeable, is she?
So why does Kylar?
If it's a lame, they're "two of a kind" excuse I'm gunna go up to heaven and punch Durzo in the face.

Kylar is willing to sacrifice himself for other people. Logan, Elene even the little brother of that bitch-queen (who's name slipped my mind). Vi is mainly concerned with freedom, Jarl and later-on Kylar...

Kylar's too good-hearted, no matter how much he belittles himself.
Vi's just bitchy.
But I can imagine Kylar starting a relationship with Vi because they're two wetboys and they "deserve each other". Or something.
On the subject of Logan- I thought he was cute. Like, personality wise. Logan had to be my favourite character. Even over Kylar. And Durzo's kid. But not Durzo. Durzo's like the Chuck Norris of the Night Angel Trilogy. Except he dies and passes on his legacy. Chuck Norris will never die. He round-house kicks death in the face.

I totally agree with the Kylar (which in Dutch is "Dodar" lol) and Vi part...
Logan was one of my favorite characters. He no matter what upheld his ideals, his vows and his honor. Especially when he was in Hell and he still shared his food, and how he refused to take the throne..
I do say.. The whole 'prophecy' thing was kinda vague.. I understand Logan got the dragon's mark while fighting the dragon. But who made the prophecy? When? And why didn't we know about it before.

Lol!
He was so noble! I loved that about him. I mean, true nobility, not that tortured kinda stuff that the genre usually gets. Goodness down to the core. It's so touching.
But that's what prophecies are supposed to be. Vague, hardly understandable, and totally surprising in the way they turn out. Bet Durzo knew about the prophecy. You know, since Durzo was so many people before he was Durzo, let's say he made the prophecy. A loooooong time ago. And forgot about it.

Indeed.. Thats the best way too describe it. "Noble in a kind way".
I mean too say that the prophecy wasn't even mentioned until halfway trough the last book. Of course they are supposed to be vague and stuff.. And let's hope Brent writes some books about Durzo's other lives!

Logan's amazing. Great-hearted through and through.
Well, it ain't Harry Potter. Prophecies are like that sometimes. Forgotten until the last moment.

Indeed. Logan is probably the nicest guy in this kind of stories ever.
The prophecy was mentioned a couple of times in the last book (I believe) but it remained unclear who did it and when.. Which makes me really curious..

Nicest and all around my favourite.
Considering it had to be centuries old. Dorian never looked back into it, I believe, so other than Durzo or Wolf, there's no explaination for it. But Durzo's dead and Wolf is as likely to give info as he is teeth, so to speak.

I like Durzo as well.. And I can really relate to Dorian as well...
That's why it would be awesome if Brent Weeks wrote books about Durzo's earlier life. And the Wolf comment made me laugh... Really hard xD

Loved Durzo from the moment the books started and Dorian, well, I hated Dorian at first. But he grew on me.
Yeah, but it'd take so much of the speculation out of it. I mean, Durzo's just this big, mysterious guy whose apparently been every hero and their grandmother, and his early, original life is an unknown. For all we know, he could've had the most sheltered noble childhood EVAR. Or maybe he was a hero born, orphaned and found by the prince to grandose adventures! Perhaps he was born to a pirate woman? On a pirate ship full of women? And he grew up on the sea, and saw his first man when he was 14? WE DON'T KNOW. And that's the fun of it. : D
Yay, laughter!

Dorian needs to grow on you indeed..
And.. Those are... interesting speculations...
Maybe he is the son of one of the Space Marines Primarchs

My mom read the series too, and she liked Dorian from the start. Then began to hate him.
I have more. xD
Perhaps he wasn't born at all, but blonde-haired, blue eyed angels carried him down from the heavens one midnight in a shower of golden light to a Royal Family's doorstep, whom then took him as a blessed gift and raised him as their own, to be the next heir. But then a war came, and destroyed his precious country! He found the black ka'kari whilst tranversing the rubble of his fallen palace, and took it with him. His Princely friend from another country took him in, and there his adventures began!
