Description
Following the destruction of the Papal States and the outright conquest of Spain and Italy, General Jens had quite well finished his objectives: the defeat of both Spain, and the Pope. Still, to him, the victories were disappointing. He had only achieved a few field battles during his career, while the rest were sieges that decimated his assault forces. Despite being offered the governorship of Rome as a consolation, he was still not happy. He wanted more. So when the new Emperor, Dimarus, announced his plans to sail west for new territories, General Jens volunteered to oversee the expedition. Jens was not sure he'd survive the voyage, but he wanted to see what he could before his time was up.Emperor Dimarus came from minor nobility, and was in fact part of a handful of other nobles who were selected to be officers for the upcoming campaign. So it came as quite a surprise when he was elected by the German High Court to be the next Emperor. With command of the armies granted to him, the Emperor-Elect began reorganizing the army, and called on the Teutonic Knights to lead the charge into the New World. The order had been put to great use by General Markus in conquering Russia, and by General Sifridus in conquering the Middle East over a century ago, but by wars end, their ranks had been decimated. Their legend lived on, for going to battle against numerous foes: the Poles, Danes, Mongols, Timurids, Turks, Egyptians, even the Venetians. During General Gunther's reign, he ordered them back to their headquarters in Hamburg to rebuild for their next Great Crusade. After another two generations, their numbers had been rebolstered. Answering Emperor Dimarus' call, they crossed the ocean into the unknown.
Emperor Dimarus began in modern day Brazil, conquering the coast, before sailing north and annexing modern day Cuba and the American south. After, he and the Teutonic Knights landed in Mexico, where they battled the mighty Aztecs. General Jens, nearly on his deathbed, had mentored the Emperor till now, and retired to the former Aztec coastal territories while Emperor Dimarus continued south to Tenochtitlan. Destroying the Aztec armies along the way, Emperor Dimarus defeated the Aztecs in the year of our lord 2046, when the Holy Roman Empire had reached it's greatest glory.
