This European-style license plate is an idea I had that the State of California could look into as a sort of fundraiser using the existing vehicle registration system. As a California native, I observe that European cars and styling are seen positively, and that there would be a significant number of automobile owners that desire to customize their vehicles towards a European style; I sometimes see vehicles with (most-likely custom) EU-style tags on the front (where this section of the vehicle code is chump change on penalties and rarely enforced), just to be unique. A long-width license plate is a simple, distinct, user-friendly modification with a recurring revenue that, just by its unique virtue alone, many people would be willing to pay a premium for legally obtaining.
