Description  Here you can see an ink sketch of Heracles, which was painted on Photoshop.

My reference for this, was the Lansdowne Heracles statue (a Roman marble sculpture of about 125 CE). Also, I took some information from drawings of the hero from ancient Greek pottery pieces.

The iconic coat of armor that Heracles is wearing is the skin of the Nemean lion , a monster that had the appearance of a normal lion but was incredibly strong. The fearsome offspring of Typhon and Echidna was defeated by Heracles as the first of his Twelve Labors. Its coloration is based on the modern asian lion's appearance (I have to note that I exaggerated it a bit though). That's because it is believed that the lions that inhabited Greece at the times of Heracles, were members of those species.

The rest of the things that the hero is wearing are based on ancient drawings depicting the Mycenaean and Minoan people (their age is close to the time that the stories tell the demigod was around). His weapon is a piece of an olive tree. The reference for the pottery on which the right hand of Heracles is resting was a Mycenaean bridge-spouted jug (1500-1450 BCE) from the Archaeological Museum of Mycenae.
