Description
Pan-Dimensional explorer. It's not the dimension that would change the person, not any entity in it or even the symbiotic armor. It would be the trans-dimensional interface.Keep that in mind captioners!

"Okay, I'm ready to go!"
A heavy lidded technician stood up from his control panel splashing lukewarm coffee over her blue labcoat as she rose and turned to look at me.
"Huh...OK, let's see what the machine says about this new world...erm..."
She waved her hand over the keyboard for a second before coming around and tapping a few buttons.
"Searching...." exclaimed the computer in its monotone, feminine voice, "No prior data found, level 3 clearance required to activate scan."
The technician paused and yawned before pressing a button on an intercom.
"Hey we need permission for a scan in portal chamber VI..."
"No problem, just a second I'll read you the results and have someone bring you down a hard copy..."
There was a pause while the technician's colleague activated the instrumentation before he began reading the results.
"OK, it looks like its a Gamma universe, so it has an Aerated Viscous Gas Ocean instead of a hard vacuum. You might feel a bit of a pinch while it gives you gills, but your suit'll handle the locomotive stuff..."
There was a series of snaps through the intercom as he punched something into a keyboard.
"...okay...the sapient life is pretty much like ours. Mammalian, same general shape...exclusively parthanogenic reproduction, but I doubt that'll matter...I'll just switch the 'diplomatic form shift' doohicky on in case they fancy a chat. You shouldn't feel too different and the more you look like them the better things'll go."
"Thanks, Mike.", said the technician, "Is everything set?"
"It's all good on this end. Just send her through and the interface'll make her a whatever-it-is-ian for a day until we pull her back."
"He actually", the tech giggled, "We've finally had a guy transferred to the scout team."
"Ah right", crackled the intercom, "I guess the higher ups finally decided- wait...! Can you cancel the transfer?"
"No, I already flipped the switch."
"Well I guess he'll just have to roll with it then."
"What's going on?", I asked, "What'll I have to 'roll with'?"
"Well...", the intercom crackled, "Since the sapient lifeform in the universe is parthenogenic they only have one set of parts...erm...well let's just say you'll have a bit more than gills while your there."
An uncomfortable silence followed as the lights on my suit began flashing in tandem with those on the portal generator.
"Well, it looks like I'll have to shut the intercom down."
"Wait...!", the tech cried as the device fell silent, "Ugh, I'm going to kill him. If he thinks I'm gonna take the heat for this on my own..."
Then she turned to me.
"So what's going to happen?", I asked.
"Well you're going to go through a few more changes than expected as you pass through", she said scratching the back of her head nervously, "Nothing permanent...you'll just have to deal with it as it...well here you go."
And with that the chamber I was in began to phase and the portal began to form.
I could just about make out the words "...a safe trip!" above the din.
"Shifting subject into alternate phase. Please stand by." The computer droned.
I felt a tingle as the chamber shifted.
"Simulating target universe, please brace yourself for adjustments."
And with that I felt a tingle around my neck as the gills formed...it didn't hurt, although I couldn't shrug off the sensation that I was about to cough up my own lungs. Next the suit shifted itself, forming finlike gauntlets and loosening a little to better simulate the skin of a living creature (a precaution, to avoid being mistaken for some sort of autonomous device).
"Beginning DFS. Refer to the advice of your portal operator."
I braced myself for the worst, exhaling (or trying to, all my new breathing equipment did was produce a strange hum). Previously loose parts of the suit began to tighten...if I still had normal lungs it would probably be hard to breath with the pressure on my chest. As I dwelled on this I suddenly realised that there was also some pressure on my hips, looking down, my vision was obscured as my hair fell into my eyes. I looked up again and began to brush it away as the computer spoke again.
"Physical changes complete. Readjusting suit to diplomatic standards."
Unlike before, the suit began to tighten. I felt it close around my legs and torso, pushing up my...oh. Well now I knew what the tech had meant by "parthenogenic". Reproduction without sex meant there was only a need for one sex...
As the helmet began to form and pull back my hair, I sighed (or hummed in a slightly higher pitch than before, anyway) and looked around at the universe I had just entered. I'd been warned from the start to expect some strange things, but I was going to have to take this up with human resources when I got back.

"Once more through the looking glass . . ." Billy sighed. "I wish the darn thing didn't act like a funhouse mirror. Female again . . . and what's with the platform heels? Oh well, time to get to work. *Suit*, begin scanning surroundings and log findings . . ."
