Description
Old school Peach:"Is that what I'm changed into now...?"New Peach:"Is that what I used to look like...?"
Originally, I found that the princess's name was always 'Peach', even when she was a redhead. 'Toadstool' was the name she was referred to in the US with earlier games and in the animated show.

I'm probably the only one, but I liked her better as a redhead. The animation was quite, er, different then vs. what we're used to seeing in Japanese animation now, but the fact that there aren't too many princesses out there with red hair (aside from Ariel) is what drew me to Toadst, er, old-school Peach's appearance. I also like the old dress better. I'm not fully sure what the point in turning Peach into a blonde was for, as they could have kept her a redhead and just improved on the was she's drawn easily. Nothing against blondes, but all princesses/heroines/mermaids don't have to have long blonde hair and blue eyes.
I found another one with a similar idea that I thought was funny.

Actually, what's funny is that I think all the major Nintendo girls/women have blonded out at some point...I thought about this before...Toadstool/Peach was a redhead in SMB1, but then a brunette in SMB2...I can't remember what she was in SMB3 but she eventually became blonde. Zelda was brunette, I think, in TLOZ 1 and 2, but eventually became blonde. Samus was I think green haired AND blonde alternately (depending on the ending to the original Metroid, I think)...then there was a limited Nintendo Power comic where she had purple hair...then she eventually became a full- time blonde. I don't know; I don't spend too too much time thinking about this (although the above lines might suggest differently), but it's weird how, whether it's Japan or America or both, women ultimately have to become blondes in game designers' eyes(?).

Yeah...that's one of the things that I like about Disney princesses; they all look different with different personalities. Even in Marvel comics, many of the heroines have different colored hair.

Nice. I like modern Peach more nowadays (She's so cute! ), though I wish she was more active and showed her smarts more (as seen pre-Sunshine and in the RPGs).
This also reminds me of a version done by : [link]

I preferred the earlier artwork that gave Peach reddish-golden-blonde hair. Then again, anything's better than highlighter yellow hair she has now.
As for the dress, I like the old one better. I personally don't see why they changed it; if they really felt they needed to, they could have at least done a better job. Oh well, the new dress still looks okay in some fan arts people do, but in the official art, it's just plain and dull.

I'm ok with her dress, they did it because they could show off the details better

They did? Β I never heard anyone say that before.
I think Peach looks more interesting in more modern official art, especially in Super Mario 3D World. Β There's more movement to her appearance now.

i never heard anyone say it either but it makes sense considering you could only do so much with an 8 or 16 bit console.
