Description
Sam is a character I have had for a while. This is his most recent incarnation, done sometime in the spring of 2020.

His character concept is that of an Eastern dragon medic who comes from a plague infested area in high mountains. He was raised to be a medic from a very young age by his parents, and has a warped sense of morals due to the desperate times he grew up in. The usage of other mythical creature parts to make medicines although frowned upon in many areas, was a necessity where he grew up. Now being sent away from his home by his parents so he can grow and develop away from the plague stricken land, he is learning more about the world and may someday realize what he had grown up with was not as normal as he believed.

I wanted his design to be light and friendly to emphasize his core personality of being friendly, optimistic and rather innocent, but also contrast with the darker sides of his backstory. I was influenced by the idea of cherubs which can probably be most well seen with his curly fur and little shoulder wings.

His clothing is based on plague doctors and the medic clothing in a game called Flight Rising. His staff runs on water and ice magic, and is only capable of helping with healing when water is present in the orb held by a crescent moon.
