Description :
Radix are large, aggressive, lion-like gorgonopsids.
They live in prides, although they have a system very similar to wolf packs. Their prides are lead by an alpha male and alpha female who lead equally with betas and omegas ranking under them.
Radix are highly evolved synapsids; they are warm-blooded, covered in fur, and give live birth although they do not nurse. They feed their pups small chunks of soft meats and fruits when they are newborn.
They are mainly predators but are known to eat any fruits they can get a hold of. They hunt in well-coordinated hunting parties of males and females.
Males and females look identical being the same size and strength although males are slightly more aggressive.
They have smooth fur aside from a small scruffy and undefined mane. They usually have dull colours; white, silver, greys, blacks, browns and tans. They can come in red, but it is much rarer. They generally have the same pattern.
As Radix hunt in parties, they will often hunt things much larger than them; they avoid Kreigtier as do most predators, as they might become hunted.
Their prides are usually from 10 to 15 individuals, although prides up to 30 have been recorded.
They have huge sabre-fangs nearly a foot long. These fangs will fall out to grow back when broken or lost and don't have nerves attached to them.
Their bodies are very similar to a feline. They have huge strong arms and legs with 5 sharp retractable claws on paw. Their thick tails are semi-prehensile and good for balance when climbing trees.
Radix pups are born blind but not deaf and can wiggle and crawl around soon after birth. They are usually born in litters of 2 to 5, they are always born dark colours.
They can top speed at 80 kph or 50 mph.
E. Elaturius ; A classification suffix the Sagax give to any species that has evolved to be genetically or physically distinct from their off-planet counterparts. This classification is not given to species that remain nearly identical to their counterparts even if they have lived on Elaturius for an extensive time.
Vm - Viertemeter (German - Vierte - Fourth) A quarter of a meter. This is a term I created to give a better equivalent to the imperial foot.
