They are semi aquatic beings that can change their color depending on their surroundings. Their pigmentation alters slowly (over the course of about a month or two) to better mimic their surroundings this helps them blend in allowing them to sneak about and avoid capture more effectively. Their skin can be “naked” or covered with scales, in some occasions these scales can appear feather like or even furry depending on how they are split. Old individuals may develop one or more horns, though these are often fragile and used for show.

they are omnivorous eating most types of organic mater and sometimes crystals as well

Their lungs are fairly small and ineffective, their main set of organs for gaseous exchange are the leaf like skin folds along their backs which are thin and have a very good blood supply, but need to remain damp like a frogs skin in order to allow oxygen to dissolve and diffuse across the thin membrane and in to the blood. These skin flaps also help with camouflage but are sensitive and bleed allot if damaged.

They have minor telepathic abilities and are often capable of foreseeing the future. Individuals found in the underground rivers and pools in some deep crystal caves are especially powerful in this regard however they are often stunted and can be disfigured.

While hard to capture and keep alive many rich and powerful people prize them as intelligent pets and oracles helping with business decisions and battle plans. However due to their intelligence, cunning and desire for freedom they often manipulate people in to releasing them by orchestrating their owner’s downfall.

Despite this they make good companions if you let them approach you first, playing music or leaving gifts such as food are good ways of enticing them though you should never attempt to trap them or force them to do something as it won’t end well for you.
