BBC's Merlin, again! Oh, I love it so.Anyway, this is based off of themollyedge 's fanfiction, One Half, which is, of course, a Merlin fanfiction. It's beautifully heart-breaking and -- and just, seriously, go read it.
Merlin is from (surprise, surprise) BBC's TV show Merlin, and thus I do not own it! *tear*

Great art is all about moving the observer in some way, touching their hearts, or conveying and inspiring any combination of energy, mood, emotion, story, wonder, beauty/ugliness, message, concept, idea, or thought. This comes before all else, including the media used and artistic skill.
There are 412 human emotions and only 20 facial muscles to express them. With only 20 muscles, and 412 iterations, the differences between facial expressions is very subtle. Being able to discern and capture them is a major challenge. Women are better at this than men, if you hadn't figured that out yet, lol.
You have portrayed both story and emotion beautifully here, both in facial expression and body language. Very well done.

Beautifully drawn; effectively showing Merlin's despair without a dramatic pose. The way you draw Merlin outside the square of normal people effectively marks him out and does a good job of portraying his alienation.
I loved the fanfiction and this is the perfect compliment to it. I love it!

I think this has to be one of the most meaningful pictures I have ever seen.
Not because of Merlin crying, not because of his expression, but the fact that you managed to hide so much in it.
