Personality: Melanie is a serious, calm and seemingly stoic Spinel, who now spends the rest of her days on Earth taking care of her personal fruit garden on a big, uninhabited island. Her behavior is unnaturally serious for a Spinel, since she absolutely despises the idea of her being "just an entertainer" and wants to show herself as a caring, non-comedic gem. This is because of her rather dark past of being mistreated during her time on Homeworld and Earth's invasion. She's mostly nice/supportive towards her close friends and occasional accidental human visitors. She would even share some of her fruits for local humans or animals and is always down for some casual chatting about different topics. She also enjoys really long evening walks around Earth...and underwater. Despite her mild, patient attitude - she's very defensive of her garden. Few unfortunate, careless trespassers got to find out her overprotective nature the hard way. Melanie is capable of seriously hurting someone in her anger, but she doesn't want to harm any humans or native animals in the slightest. Instead, she'll try to help them (humans) return home from her island. Foreign or hostile gems are a bit different story, though - Melanie will become aggressive and distrustful towards any foreign gems in her garden, unless they could quickly reason with her. Even then it's not guaranteed, if Melanie will not hurt the trespasser gem afterwards.

History: Lime green Spinel is an Era 1 gem, who was made to entertain a group of Blue Diamond's elite gems approx. 7000 years ago. She also was used for common gem soldier entertainment, if needed. She initially enjoyed making others happy and her personality didn't differ much from a normal Spinel at first. 900 years after Lime green's creation, other gems she tried to entertain started to grow increasingly bored of her silly jokes and dancing. They later got an idea to make things fun with Lime Green again - They started to purposefully mess up her acts and make her fail. Year by year, Lime green slowly became "a simple toy" for gems to laugh at. She was fine with at first, as she still fulfilled her purpose, even if it meant being treated like rubbish. The mistreatment and humiliation continued until about 350 years later, when Lime Green was sent to Earth to entertain Blue and Pink Diamond's court members and their soldiers. She thought things would change and gain some respect on Earth, but it wasn't any better...at all. Eventually, the Rebellion took place. Lime green wasn't really caught in the crossfire, until the near end of the Gem War, when she finally had enough of mistreatment and turned hostile against the Homeworld gems. Unfortunately, she was immediately caught and poofed, before she could do any harm to them. Homeworld gems didn't have much time to come up with Lime Green's punishment, so they simply bubbled her gem and hid her somewhere in an Earth's cave, right before most gems had to escape Earth (since the Diamonds were about to attack). The Spinel spent 2500 years trapped in a bubble (which saved her from corruption), before being accidentally freed by Earth's local animals. She was very confused at first, but later found out what happened during her imprisonment. In the last 2000 years, Lime Green slowly changed physically (into her current appearance) and personality-wise, as she explored the world, discovered Earth's fauna and flora, matured emotionally and found a fertile, uninhabited island somewhere on the ocean, beyond a thick fog. She settled on the lush island and started to grow some plants from the seeds she found during her travels. Lime Green Spinel also changed her name into her current nickname - Melanie.
