Description
Challenges are back in Starlight Justice and this month is all about best friends. It took me a long time to figure out what i was going to do. Originally my plan had been to find a happy scene where I could draw the girls fooling around or just hanging out together, but I couldn't find one that I liked. Then I was going to draw one with the girls fighting and again couldn't find one that I felt like using. Finally I was just surfing through screenshots and came across this one from season 3. Honestly the picture itself took forever, and it was a pain colouring to compensate for the lack of light. In the end though it came out nice and I am happy with the results.

I based both Orchid's and Eclipse's outfits by designs made by their owners. I wanted them to wear something warmer then they both would normally be wearing.

Story:
(This takes place during season three, about episode 21-22)

After Jeff(Black Lightning), Dick(Nightwing) and Alex are rescued from Granny by Kaldur(Aquaman) and Wyynde, they are brought back to get medical attention. As we know Jeff basically bounces right back but Dick does not and struggles to live. Alex is not a metahuman but neither is she quite human so she comes back easier than Dick but takes longer than Jeff. Once she wakes up and sees Dicks condition things go downhill for her. She struggles to stay calm and composed when inside she breaking apart. Watching Dick without knowing if he'll make it painfully reminds her of her family and friends who've died and she starts blaming herself for their deaths and Dick's condition. On the outside she tries to stay tough and doesn't say much. She gets very quiet, and doesn't talk to her friends.

Alex stays late unable to leave Dick's side. Eventually she is persuaded to go home; as she prepares to leave, Alfred suggests to Bruce to invite Alex to stay with them seeing how hard she is taking things. Bruce takes Alfred's suggestion and invites Alex, at first she is reluctant and just wants to be alone but Barbara convinces her to go so she follows Alfred, Bruce and Tim to Wayne Manor.

The next following days Alex stays with Bruce even after Dick up again. She takes a habit of leaving the manor in the late evening and walking around the garden. She would find a quiet spot and cry, continuing to blame herself and afraid to be around Dick in case to put him in harms way. Alfred would observe Alex and notice how swollen and red her face would be when she would finally come back in, and takes it upon himself to inform Barbara knowing that the girls are close friends. Barbara would then talk to Kat(Eclipse) and Willow(Orchid) about Alex and suggest they talk to her. They do try but Alex refuses to talk and says she is fine just tired. So they take the next step, the next night when Alex is outside Kat and Willow goes out and find Alex. Since Alex cannot fake that she is fine now she finally tells how has been feeling and the girls console her and tell that it's not her fault. Both Willow and Kat have past issues themselves and are able to understand how she is feeling.

Thanks to her Best Friends; Kat, Willow and Barbara, Alex is soon back in the game and coming to terms with how she feels.
