For:
Unova Megas!! CLOSED! +The FutureAlright, Since I have been massively lucky over the past day with breeding for shiny Unovan starters, I am going to give them away as prizes! Not to my Weashell contest, but for a quick challenge! You get to design a mega for the Unova Starter of your choice.
They are all Shiny and have Pokèrus. Each has their competitive nature and random IVs (Snivy♂-Timid, Tepig♂-Jolly, Oshawott♀-Adamant). EDIT: ADDING A SHINY, COMPETITIVE GENESECT TO THE ROSTER.
:RULES:
*You may only win with one Mega, you may enter as many times as you'd like, but you will only win 1.
*You do not get a choice in which shiny you get, it corresponds to which mega you design. (i.e, If you design a Mega Serperior and win, you get the shiny Snivy.)
*It has to be a design

I dunno why one would ever use Emboar as a special attacker with its meh special movepool, though. I'd personally use something like 110/163/90/110/90/65, but that's just me.

Emboar is Fire/Fighting because Game Freak wanted to have a Journey to the West theme (supposedly) .
I don't understand why people want it to be Fire/Dark tough. Is it because of that dark strip on it's belly?

Well, I want it to be Fire-Dark just for the sake of not being Fire-Fighting.
I mean, half of the fire starters are also Fighting type, of which Blaziken already has a Mega.
Also, I still don't see how Emboar is a Fighting type. What's its special move; does it sit on enemies or something?

It's special move is a weight based fire type attack called Heat Crash that implies it it either sits on them or does a body slam. It's artwork from Pokemon Conquest implies sitting on the enemy.
I'm fine with Fire/Fighting really. I understand the desire for variety and hopefully future fire type starters will have more unused typing's but i'm glad Emboar is Fire/Fighting type since it gets STAB with a number of somewhat usable moves.
If I could change something about Emboar I would either up it's weight so it could use Heat Crash or Heavy Slam more effectively or at the very least give it Rock Head so it could spam it's numerous recoil moves before it's crap defenses get it killed.
I wish it would get a mega evolution like this but it's pretty clear that those are only given out to "popular" Pokemon.

Haha, the sitting thing was actually a joke.
But then again, I'm sure others such as Snorlax or Metagross could easily squash others, yet they are obviously not fighting types.
I don't care much for what STAB Emboar gets. I can see that Blaziken is a martial artist chicken (kicking specifically) and that Infernape is a brawler, but I think Emboar looks more like a Fire/Ground type. And if you really care about STAB, then why not Earthquake? Your argument that it gets Fighting STAB doesn't only apply to Fighting type; so your argument there is invalid.
I fully agree that they should give other starters Megas - Especially to the other Gen III one's imo because Blaziken got one and they didn't. Sceptile's pretty awesome, and I LIEK MEGA MUDKIPZ! (Well, Swampert, whatever)

In the end we really can't use "obvious type" as an argument since there are quite a few Pokemon that are "obviously" one type or another due to coloration or other minor details but aren't. Take Florges for example
From my perspective there isn't anything about Emboar that says "Ground Type" other than the fact that it's a boar and that isn't much of a reason for it to be Ground. I've also heard quite a few people describe Emboar as a "wrestler pig" and it's pre-evolution even wears a unitard.
I'm not sure I understand why my STAB argument is invalid. I never really use Earthquake unless it really is necessary (Huge Power Diggersby) since it does damage to my allies as well. I prefer to use Hammer Arm on Emboar since it's rather slow in the first place and I can use Flame Charge before hand to mitigate the speed loss somewhat.

Well, you've just debunked your own argument. You say that "obvious types" aren't anything to go by, and then go on to say it looks like a wrestler pig.
And the STAB argument doesn't work because it could apply to ANY type. You say that you like Emboar being Fighting-type because it gets Fighting STAB, but I could say the exact same thing about Ground-type. So it really goes either way. Besides, if you want a Fire-type with Fighting STAB, you already have Blaziken AND Infernape. Which brings me back to the original question: "Why should Emboar be Fire-Fighting, and not some other, unique combinaton?"

I debunked your argument for it being ground type as well. My argument is a double edged sword.
Emboar gets Fighting STAB with moves that I like to use. Even if it was Rock type and got a boost for Rock Head I still wouldn't use Rock Head since the recoil damage it gets isn't really worth it. Blaziken And infernape have different stat builds and move sets so I don't use them since they don't learn the moves I prefer to use.
I can't really answer a question like that since i'm not one of the developers. You may as well be asking why Meowth hasn't been retconned as a Fairy type or why Hippowdon isn't a water type. They had the idea that Emboar would be Fire/Fighting and decided to go with it.

About Rock-type, why not Stone Edge? About Ground-type, why not Earthquake (you've mentioned that it hits your ally, but that's a terrible argument. It's obviously a good move, or else it wouldn't be so widely used.)?
Just... Fighting-type? There are another 15 types, four of which STILL haven't been paired with Fire. But no, they just had to pick Fighting for the third time IN A ROW.
Why not a Fire/Poison cobra, or a Fire/Steel type?

Actually, the three Fire Fighters are all based off of different martial arts.
-Blaziken is Kung Fu (Kicker)
-Infernape is Karate (Karate Chops)
-Emboar is Judo (Requires bulkiness and massive hands to throw people and sit on them

But that's way too many, imo. They should've done a Fire-Steel type, or Fire-Flying! I mean, most of the starters so far are quadruped mammals, with a few bipedals and one snake.
There haven't been any aquatic (even the water-types) or aerial pokemon. A Fire-Flying would've been cool.
