Description
“Pokemon can be classified by following criteria: A low reproduction rate (with the offspring being in most cases of its mother’s species), supernatural abilities like extended longevity (in some cases, as seen in the so-called ‘Legendary Pokemon’, it exceeds several thousand years), the ability to control different elements, large-sized bodies, a sudden second and third mutation/maturity stage, some of which are triggered by the radiation of different ores (and a newly-discovered fourth stage, the ‘Mega-Evolution’ which is triggered by ‘Mega Stones’), and near-human/superhuman intellect, even in animals like arthropods. It was generally believed that Pokemon where a whole different act of Creation, or even extraterrestrial life-forms.In 1850 however, when a female West-Highland Terrier gave birth to a litter of Lillipups, people began to realize that Pokemon did come, in fact, from normal animals. This caused several theories to spring up until in 1976 the young Pokemon Professor Samuel Oak discovered a virus in one of his samples. First, he believed it to be a contamination, but then curiosity got the better of him. He noted a section in the virus’ DNA he found oddly familiar. In a sample of his Charizard’s DNA, he recognized the exact same section of viral DNA. This lead to a breakthrough in Pokemon research, explaining exactly where Pokemon came from: The ‘Pokerus’ Virus affects the reproductive organs, slipping its genetic information into its hosts gametes and changing the offspring to mutate into Pokemon.”

Rodents and Lagomorpha are mammalian Pokémon with the highest reproduction rate compared to other mammalian ones. They also have the fewest teeth, but all of the rodents have typical four incisors changed to chisel-like teeth. Rabbits belong to the Lagomorpha category, which aren't rodents actually. They are closely related though, and that is enough for me to put them together.
EDIT 22.01.2023: Updated the Main File to includethe 9th Generation. Also altered Pikachu, because Mountain Viscacha are a thing.
Tandemaus/Maushold, Rattata, Aloan Rattata, Raticate, Aloan Raticate, Dedenne, Diglett, Aloan Diglett, Dugtrio, Aloan Dugtrio, Sentret, Azurill, Marill, Azumarill, Bidoof, Bibarel, Victini, Emolga, Morpeko, Swirlix, Slurpuff, Pawmi, Pawmo, Pawmot, Patrat, Watchog, Pachirisu, Skwovet, Greedent, Mawile, Mega Mawile, Pichu, Pikachu, Raichu, Aloan Raichu, Cinccino, Minccino, Scream Tail, Plusle, Minun, Whismur, Bunnelby, Diggersby, Igglybuff, Jigglypuff, Wigglytuff, Buneary, Lopunny, Mega Lopunny, Scorbunny, Raboot, Cinderace, Calyrex
Notes:
-Aloan Raticate has cheeck pouches and constantly steals food to store it
-Mawile can be found in Europe, Mega Mawile in America
-Calyrex was a bit of a joke Pokémon. Because the Galarian king was so bad, they put in the hare in his stead, and dressed it up. Figures because a hare can't possibly screw up taxes, everybody won.
-Tandemaus and Maushold are literally the same animals. You'll only get one of them here.
-Scream Tail is a Pika
Enjoy!

Are any of your Pokémon in the drawing inspired by guinea pigs?

Not anymore. In the first version, the one my sister made before the sixth Generation was out, the Nidos had been Guinea Pigs. Not anymore.

Geez. Why can't they think of simple names for things? Like...'Refrigerator'. Why not call it 'Cooling cupboard' like we Germans do?
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
TheNervousMedic In reply to DragonlordRynn [2017-03-11 19:41:31 +0000 UTC]
omfg XD that sounds amazing, you call it a cooling cupboard?
Dang, Germans get such a bad rep for how awesome the culture is XD
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
DragonlordRynn In reply to TheNervousMedic [2017-03-11 19:44:43 +0000 UTC]
Well yes. 'Kühlschrank'. 'kühl' as in cool or cooling and 'Schrank' as in cupboard. I guess we are a bit more practical when naming things. Like 'Straßenbahn'- Street-train (tram). Or 'Schnabeltier'- Beak animal (platypus).
Well, the thing is, I could have named it Rodents and Lagomorphs (like bears and weasels), but then I would have needed to name the plants 'plants and fungi' and the invertebrates 'invertebrates and protozoa'. Eh. I have it in the author's comments anyways.

What are the rodents from pichu to patrat intended to be?
Some of them are gerbils and other mice but I think they are some strange kind of mices and rodents

DragonlordRynn In reply to PokemonHunter20 [2017-03-05 09:29:38 +0000 UTC]
Soo...technically everything that isn't a bunny or squirrel?
Okay, Pichu and Pikachu: Hazel Dormouse
Raichu: Hazel Dormouse combined with Jaculus
Dedenne: Hazel Dormouse, closely related to Pikachu
Rattata: Garden Dormouse
Ratticate: Muskrat
Sentret: Edible Dormouse
Diglett, Dugtrio: Vole
Azurill, Marill, Victini: Mouse
Azumarill: Mouse, combined with parts Jaculus and rabbit
Cinccino, Minccino: Chinchilla
Bidoof, Bibarel: Beaver
Swirlix, Slurpluff: Hamster
Patrat, Watchog: Prairie Dog
So no gerbils.

I saw Carbink and the Diancie forms in your other piece (the Invertebrates), but I always saw them as rabbit-like. Just a note.
Also, I really like the hamster(?) Diglett/Dugtrio.
👍: 0 ⏩: 1
DragonlordRynn In reply to That1Bot [2017-02-24 07:09:04 +0000 UTC]
Yeah, that would have been a possibility- but then the stone shell around them reminded me of a caddisfly. And then I thought "What if they are termites?" I mean we have thousands of Carbink and only two Diancie, right? So I made them giant-sized termites that can feed on rocks and develop crystal-like shells.
And The Digletts are Voles- they are related to hamsters, but not the same.

My first try was a marmoset, actually. But squirrel somehow worked better. Besides, Squirrels hold their tails above their backs so it looks like it is attached to their heads, monkeys not so much.
