Description

Godzilla is such a fun subject to draw and re-imagine in various styles and portrayals.

For this design, I went with several elements from the Heisei, Millennium and MonsterVerse eras. Instead of the traditional charcoal color, this Godzilla has more colorful, oceanic tones of blue and green.

Origin:
Godzilla is a dinosaurian creature who was awakened by nuclear bomb-testing in the 1950's. Usually a second version of the monster appears (depending on the timeline) and is known for putting various cities of the world (most notably Japan, sometimes the United States and other nations) under attack countless times for generations.

In this AU's continuity, there are at least five notable Godzilla specimens total:

Gojira (the first who was killed by the super-weapon known as the Oxygen Destroyer in 1954 - later revived in the form of Shin Gojira in 2016), this Godzilla (technically the second which came out and about in 1955, after the original Gojira), Godzilla Junior, Gojirin, and Zilla.

Personality:
Godzilla is the self-appointed leader of the kaiju. He possesses a fierce temperament and enjoys the thrill of battle and destruction, although his more peaceful side is noticeable when left alone. Because he rarely loses, Godzilla has a sizeable ego and does not take it well at the prospect of not being able to win just about every fight. Despite having a notoriously short fuse, he does understand empathy and generally forms strong, lasting connections with other kaiju - although the case is mostly left ambiguous regarding his relationship with humans. While he does not actively intend on harming them, Godzilla typically seems as if he simply wants nothing to do with them altogether.

Abilities:
Godzilla's signature means of offense is his atomic breath (commonly dubbed "radioactive fire"), a powerful beam of searing heat, light and energy. His spines and the inside of his mouth glow ominously when preparing to fire the beam, burning dark blue or indigo with a white core. Depending on his mood and intention, he is able to control the intensity of his blasts — whether to merely knock someone off their feet, or outright incinerate whatever targets that are in his vicinity. When directed at other monsters, it usually triggers a “pushing” effect as well as perhaps mild or severe burns. When enhanced, the beam can take on other colors (red/orange, green, purple, etc) and the effects upon impact can vary greatly.

Godzilla is highly durable in that he can resist a multitude of weaponry as well as blows from other monsters. His strength and sheer willpower enables him to overcome many opponents perhaps even larger or more powerful than himself. Additionally, his body is able to recover from heavy damage relatively quickly, depending on the circumstances. Godzilla also proves to be very intelligent to where he is able to strategize and exploit the advantages/disadvantages of his opponents. As a sea-based creature, he naturally travels much faster in water than on land, allowing him to easily cover lengthy distances within short time periods. His amphibious nature allows him roam freely on land, although he more often prefers doing the latter.

Weaknesses:
Electricity is a major offender that renders Godzilla vulnerable in some way or another. Walking through power lines slows and irritates him greatly, for instance. Additionally he struggles battling against King Ghidorah in particular, whose lightning attacks are able to partially paralyze Godzilla and weaken his atomic beam even.
Given that his arms are small in proportion to the rest of his body, Godzilla does not fare well in close melee combat especially with opponents with a farther striking range or airborne. He would proceed to use his head, tail, or beam to try and compensate. His ray can sometimes be backfired, resulting in his skin sustaining similar damage inflicted on other monsters.

On land Godzilla usually moves at a slow pace and is not all too agile, making it easier for nimble kaiju to achieve the upper-hand fighting him.
