Description Information:

Name: Laqueta (meaning: one who is quiet)

Age: 30 yrs (her species generally live up to 150-200 years)

Gender: Female

Species: Thin-Tailed Coral Walker (Custom Species)

Size: *Specifics to be updated...*

Physical Description: Laqueta's main skin color is dark turquoise-navy blue speckled with light variations of shimmering, smooth scales. From the top of her head, ending between her shoulders, and restarting again from the base of her tail on is a colorful display of fin-like sails that can be flexed to make her appear large, or flattened to signal submission or fear, ranging from bright oranges and red, to light blues with speckling. These are normally relaxed at a sort of half-way stance. These fins allow her to maneuver through strong currents, along with her webbed feet. Her body is astonishingly long, and while she appears agile and weak, her body is nearly completely muscle, similar to that of a snake. She can use her body to wrap around and constrict larger prey. Her front limbs are shorter and more sturdy than her hind, while her hind legs are longer and thinner, giving her an odd, angled stance when walking on all fours. Four fleshy extensions protrude from her back, each ending with a illuminating "orb" used to attract prey and allow her vision in dark waters. These fleshy extensions are able to flex up and down, flattened to lessen the chance of damage often times. Her eyes are large and round, pupils often dilated to allow more light when rummaging through water. Her teeth are slightly hooked, and when her jaw is closed, two specific sets of canines peek from her upper lip on either side of her mouth. She does not "breathe" any element like a cliche dragon - instead, her saliva produces a neurotoxic venom, which coats her teeth. When she bites prey or a threatening creature, most times she has no intentions of killing and victims *may* be left with short-term paralysis and other side effects, but if enough venom is distributed, the receiver may experience long-term paralysis and possible death from respiratory failure.

Her skin is soft, smooth, similar to that of a sea krait with an almost slimy coating normally only found when she is not in water (this excretion is to keep her skin hydrated). Because of her dynamic leg sizes, she is clumsy on land, and often takes to the closest water source when escaping danger. In water, she moves like, again, a sea krait, extending the fins on her neck and tail, and swinging her body back and forth in a wriggling manner to propel herself.

Personality: Often skittish at sudden activity, she normally hides herself in the depths of any water she currently inhabits. She very rarely ventures too far from water as she is dependent on it. While not a frequent traveler, she finds herself sometimes following currents through wide rivers and into connecting lakes in search for fresh waters and abundant food. Her favorite places to make her home are in isolated, normally abandoned lagoons. If feeling confident and is more or less unafraid of her company, she can be rather testy and inquisitive, coming as close as she can to a stranger, but not allowing said stranger to approach *her* so easily. She is not territorial because she is physically not able to take on many challengers, and so if she has company at her pool, she may not emerge for some time. She rather give the stranger time to drink and move on rather than sustaining fatal injuries due to foolish behavior.

Oddly enough, her curiosity can sometimes overcome her. While she does not like unfamiliar attention, she may poke her head from the water like a turtle to stare at the newcomer, be it to creep them out and get them to leave, or just to investigate what's going on (when she does this, her eyes are normally constricted, adding to the "creep" factor).

History:
Laqueta comes from the sea, where she and her many siblings were born. Her species are born from a mass clutch of eggs similar to that of octopus, in which few in the clutch rarely make it to adulthood. She was born amongst the treacherous coral of the reef, and when she hatched, she was under her mother's care for approximately 5 years. At this stage she was a young juvenile, and because she was able to fend for herself, she was ushered (aggressively) by her mother to abandon the bond and strike out on her own. Ever since, she has been hiding in every other coral reef before making her journey further inland, where there are less enormous predators to fear. Here, hopping from pond to pond, lake to lake, and down every other creek, Laqueta has grown into a fit adolescent female (her species live for many, many years! She has yet to consider returning to the sea.
