When drawing this pic, I went through doing it and presenting it in phases mentally. One, I noticed an article about the new TMNTcartoon coming out and noticed that April O'Neil this time around was black. Naturally, I looked up more info on it, and, stumbled across a comic cover of April O'Neil that was from the original comic. If you look at her you'd swear that she was a black woman. So I looked into it and what I can tell, April was NOT black in the original comic. Here's the blog where I got the info. I have to even say that the article in question was well written and seemed to me to make the most since. However, I cannot ignore what I saw and as an artist, I had to pull this off. It was a chance to create a "head cannon" version of April. Combining outfit the comic version, the look of the 1987 cartoon, and making her a black woman. I may go further with this depending on how In feel about it and per you guys response. Had a lot of fun making this too.
