Description ‘It was a small town near the border. I was looking for a guide to lead me across the wilds. The bartender referred me to a young and eccentric looking girl playing with a corgi near a group of children. The children giggled and cheered at the girls antics. Needless to say I expressed my skepticism to the barkeep, but he just chuckled and called the girl over. The moment he explained the job to her, well, it’s hard to explain. It was as if she had aged several decades all at once. No longer was she a carefree youth, but instead a battle tested soldier. We discussed at length plans for the journey and settled upon fair wage for the job.

As she walked away I saw her gather her things from the corner: an old set of white Mail armor, a tall leaf bladed glaive, and a loose saddle roll. I asked the barkeep if he could tell me any more about her. He simply told me that she said she was a fairy looking for a new home and had settled here a couple decades back. She’d worked as village guardian and wilderness guide for some time now, the locals loved her as one of the own. Most of the adults now living here has once been among the children playing with her and her hound.

“She’s a kind one that ‘un” he said watching her leave. “Just make sure not to cross ‘er. She can ‘andle ‘erself alright, but the dog ‘a ‘ers will tear ya ta pieces before you can even blink.”

Her dog didn’t seem so fierce to me, but as I glanced over, I swear that hound was taking careful measure of me. Perhaps it would do me good to heed this advice. After all, who knows what magic follows those creatures that serve the fey.
