I've been lurking around viewing all the drahomira pieces for almost a year now
definitely
japonisme
besides being excellent exercises in composition, space, balance weight, colour
they also seem to me equal part surrealism, equal part Pop, with all the blatant re appropriation and lucid juxtaposition ( which is more apparant in drahomira's earlier work )
and yet all these pieces seem all so fucking sarcastic
they are amusing and yet bizarre and unsettling.
for someone who doesn't take himself ( that ) seriously, he sure is churning some excellent work.

the slightly cynical sophistication you bring to all of your pieces really rings out again in this. fantastic composition.. it really guides the eye through the piece in a dynamic sort of way that is not unlike the way that traditional japanese paintings were controlled.
