Description
The Cadet Uniform
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION
The design and fabric are always kept up to date to ensure the maximum amount of safety and comfort
of the cadets because of the dangerous, demanding tasks and the harsh weather conditions of the region.
All uniforms' base is made out of tough cotton and while visibly having no difference,
the cadets applying to dragon or combat related courses are wearing a version with thin,
specifically aligned layers of Kevlar and Dyneema, which in combinations resist up to
1000 newton pressure and are puncture resistant.
That offers protection from stab-injuries during training with sharp weapons and eventual
dragon bites and scratches. Also important for the Dragon-fight specialized cadets
are the flame-resistant capes. The thick core layer, a "synthetic dragonskin" material was invented
in Vanaheim itself and is covered by an also fire-resistant satin weaved, shiny fabric.
The cape has a quite noticeable weight but the synthetic dragonskin keeps the extreme heat isolated
from the ones who wear it and cannot be cut or scratched apart either.
The main purpose of the cape is the protection of direct attacks like biting.
Similar to the skin of fight-dogs the many thick "wrinkles" at the shoulder and collar of the cape
make sure that the dragon can not sink it's teeth into the flesh of the wearer as dragons are prone
to attack those areas. The spare amount of fabric on the cape can also be used to shape a hood.
Other parts of the combat-equipments are leather boots and protectors with carbon strengtheners,
light eletcro-shockers that magnetically attach to the belt and other gear to attach bags
for gadgets one needs at patrol and tracking classes.
Sorcery students wear the same base as the other cadets but have a long linen-cotton dress or tunic on top.
Male versions with a shorter tunic only recently had been made as being a Volur
is still considered a typically female-ruled profession.
