*Before Daemos came to WRR Stables and Rune Spell Coat*
Daemos had laid down for the night after another long day in the hills. The herd had been moving for miles. He wondered if they would ever stop moving. Wasn't this place good enough? It had plentiful grasses for them to eat and several lakes to drink from. They didn't even have alligators in them!
Daemos laid his head across his knees. He felt exhausted. He rolled over on his side. He missed his mother. She got sick shortly after his birth. He couldn't remember much about her other than her soft coat and calm demeanor. She had passed before Daemos turned a year old. The herd left her body there. She had laid down and never got up again. They told Daemos to leave her and move on.
He longed to see her again. He felt stupid for obeying the herd's orders. What did they know? Now they were just wandering about aimlessly. To find what? A new home? More herd members?
Daemos closed his eyes. He couldn't take this much longer. If only he had some way to go back. He hated the thought of waking up to one more day of constant wandering aimlessly. He was still to young to even have a say. No one listened...and no one cared...
Daemos hadn't realized he had dozed off. He woke to the sound of something shrieking and loud pounding. He saw a few herd members bolting away into the distance. He looked over his shoulder where the shrieking had come from. At first her thought a couple members were fighting each other like savages. He looked closer and to his horror, saw a large, clawed feline leaping onto one of the horse's backs and latching onto its throat.
Daemos had scrambled to his hooves at this point. He stood, trembling as another large feline crept out of the shadows. And another... He felt a chill of terror sweep over him. His knees shook. He still felt weak from the day of traveling. His herd-mates were dropping from the onslaught of predators. He wasn't sure if he could even escape the attack at this point...
One of the felines spotted Daemos frozen in fear. He was the perfect prey. Small and too terrified to fight back.
Daemos couldn't stop shaking. He kept thinking of his dead mother. He'd end up like her. He wouldn't get up in the morning. He wouldn't budge when provoked. He's be done for. Dead.
'But...I don't want to be left behind...'
He felt a power well inside of him. He wasn't sure what it was. He didn't care at this point. Up until now his blood had felt like ice water. Now he felt a warmth inside of him - almost a sort of controlled rage. He took what he could get as adrenaline took over his responses.
He harnessed that burning feeling as the feline made a jump for Daemos. A spark jumped out of nowhere in front of the feline. It exploded into a small flame. It was enough to startle the attacker. The fire quickly took hold of the dry grass and spread rapidly. It formed a wall between it and Daemos.
Daemos didn't feel frozen in time any longer. This was his chance to get out of there. He hesitated slightly, thinking about the rest of the herd members still fighting to stay alive. He remembered his mother and how they had left her fro dead.
Daemos whirled on his haunches and took off into the distance. He left them for dead. How was it his problem? Just as they didn't think his mother was a problem.
He felt invigorated from the flame but his heart felt untouched by the warmth. He closed off his feelings. All he needed was this power to survive.

My first spell practice! About damn time, right? Right, lol. I wish I was better at drawing fire so here's my chance to work on it! I'm going to continue the Daemos/Dove story too <3
