Description
This is dedicated to , since she has been super nice to me in the recent past. She drew two pictures of me and my new husband and has always been a faithful commenter. Her cheeriness and enthusiasm are contagious, too!
So, I drew this picture of her “fursona”, Toan. I realize, thought, that I ended up making her look a little too foxy instead of wolfy-bearish.
This is my first real attempt at using Painter IX from start to finish on a work. Everything from the sketch to the coloring was done digitally. (Usually, I sketch on paper, ink it, then scan and color). I’m still getting used to Painter…..
I hope to improve in the future!

Wow, I really like this - is she supposed to have a kind of North American Indian feel? That's the impression I get anyway, and I really like the feathers in her hair, tail ((Hems of clothes?))

Oh, thank you! Yeah, I think it kinda does have a Native American feel. Or a bit primitive or tribal. Good guess on the hems of the clothes. She actually has more feathers on the bottom of her loincloth, but they're hidden by her legs.

Funny you should say that the pose is a bit contrived... I was thinking the exact same thing when I was drawing it!
But, I figured to treat it kind of like a snapshot. She's about to set off hunting, when she decides to lean against a rock and casually look at the viewer....
Maybe I need to practice my action poses.

Yeah....its a bit of a visual cliche. lol. It works as literally a snap shot of someone sitting down after a trek and having a think....but looking at the viewer...makes it look like a holiday pic.
Action poses can end up looking contrived...or "wrong" especially if the movment is dynamic nad looks like is has been jsut caught in action....giving the sense or impression of stilled or calmed motion is the best way I think...

Umm... she's sort of a fox... Actually, according to , she's supposed to be a wolf/bear mix. But I ended up making her more lithe and... foxy.
